Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Fear Queen’s ‘Most Trusted Confidantes’ Could Expose Palace ‘Secrets’ in Her Documentary
Prince Harry and Meghan could face new questions about their royal past. A reported project about Queen Elizabeth II’s former dresser, Angela Kelly, could bring back the drama over their old wedding tiara. According to IBTimes UK, Kelly could join a documentary about her years working with Queen Elizabeth.
The production companies reportedly involved are 53 Degrees Global and Disney. It could feature interviews, old footage, and dramatic recreations. Kelly spent decades working closely with the Queen. She has also written two books about her time working for the Queen. They include Dressing the Queen: The Jubilee Wardrobe and The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe.
According to RadarOnline, a palace source said, “The prospect of Angela finally getting the chance to tell her side is very uncomfortable for Harry and Meghan.” It added that Kelly could expose “secrets” from their time inside the royal family.
“Angela wasn’t some distant member of the royal household who occasionally crossed paths with the family,” the insider said. “She was one of the Queen’s closest and most trusted confidantes.” The source described her as “Somebody who spent years working behind the scenes.”
She also “witnessed situations that the outside world knew absolutely nothing about.” The insider continued, “Angela may remember certain events differently from how Harry has described them.” If Kelly gets involved in the production, viewers might hear a completely different version of the royal events.
“And that’s what could make them uncomfortable,” the source claimed. The source also said nobody knows what the filmmakers plan to include. It’s also unclear how much Kelly is willing to reveal. Kelly’s name also came up when Harry spoke about Markle’s wedding preparations.
Markle wore the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau Tiara at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry criticized Kelly over the tiara arrangements. He claimed she delayed the fitting. He also said she made it hard for Markle’s hairdresser to try the tiara before the wedding.
Harry added that Kelly wanted security arrangements sorted before handing over the jewelry. As he put it, “I consider going to Granny [Queen Elizabeth], but that would probably mean sparking an all-out confrontation.” The Duke added he “wasn’t quite sure with whom Granny would side.
Also, to my mind, Angela was a troublemaker, and I didn’t need her as an enemy.” However, royal author Robert Hardman shared a different version in his 2026 book, Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Insider Story. Hardman wrote that the Queen had told staff, “It’s not a toy.”
She also recalled that Kate Middleton’s hairdresser had practiced with a plastic tiara from Claire’s before the 2011 royal wedding. The monarch reportedly questioned, “Why could Meghan and her hairdresser not do the same?” She then instructed Kelly to ignore the calls.
