Prince Harry Hit With Brutal Two-Word Jab As King Charles’ Letter Drama Deepens
Prince Harry has reportedly faced a brutal jab over King Charles’ letter about the Sussexes’ royal status. A Radar Online source claimed, “There is real frustration within royal circles.” It is because “Harry can sometimes appear too dim to grasp how diplomacy at this level actually operates.”
Lord Benyon, the Lord Chamberlain and the Royal Household’s most senior officer, wrote the letter at the King’s request. On September 7, he sent the official guidance to top government and military officials. It reiterated that Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer working royals.
The letter described their position as “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.” Their HRH titles remain in abeyance. Meanwhile, they will carry their charity work privately. “The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity,” the letter stated.
It also noted that the “financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish” will “continue to be fully respected.” A second royal insider questioned why Harry had “misunderstood” the palace’s position.
“The King’s position has already been made clear,” the insider said. “The Sussexes are not working royals, and their independent activities cannot be allowed to create uncertainty among government, military or other official bodies about whom they represent,” they added.
The comment came as reports described friction between the Firm and the Sussexes. One source also claimed Harry may have “disliked the terminology.” But, according to the insider, the King wanted to avoid confusion about the couple’s actual status.
According to The Guardian, the letter came out before a RAVEC meeting that week. It was looking at the Sussexes’ security after they came back to Britain. The committee was expected to decide if Markle and the kids should get protection too. According to ITVX, “The suspicion in Prince Harry’s camp is that the letter was issued and made public to try to influence the outcome of a meeting on the family’s security provision, which is taking place this week.”

Amid all this, another insider told Radar Online that the couple might consider legal action over the letter. The tipster said that they are first examining “whether describing them in official correspondence as effectively private citizens accurately reflects their position as public figures.”
The source added that Harry and Markle will then look at their options to “challenge” it. Harry recently returned to the U.K. with Markle and their children for an extended stay. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have reportedly started school in Britain. The move came nearly six years after the couple left the U.K. and settled in California.
The family first made their visit to Britain this year in July. Harry was there for Invictus Games-related commitments, while the family had a private reunion with Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. Charles saw the kids for the first time in four years. They had last seen him during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.
