In late July, Page Six reported that Phypers had accused Richards of having a months-long affair with Rudy Reyes. According to the outlet, Phypers claimed to have discovered messages between his then-wife and Reyes. He also said hotel receipts proved the duo had been intimate and engaging in an affair for months following their work together.

Reyes and Richards worked together on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Reyes served as an instructor on the series. Richards was a contestant. Around the time that Phypers made his claims, Reyes seemingly split from his longtime partner, further fueling speculation.

Richards has not commented on the affair allegations, but she has accused Phypers of being abusive towards her. She was recently granted a restraining order against him and has made it clear that there are aspects of the split she is not ready to discuss at this time.

In a recent chat with Decider, Reyes said that he would never jeopardize what he does for a living. Regarding the allegations leveled against him, Reyes said, “I respect what we do on our program, and there’s trust and commitment. Every recruit on our course is in our hands.” He then told the outlet that he had nothing more to say about the situation. The statement signaled that he was done speaking about Phypers, Richards, and their divorce drama.

Reyes’ seemingly planned and very vague answer didn’t exactly set the record straight. Followers are now feeling confident that Reyes and Richards may have had, at the very least,a flirtation while working together, and in the months after her time on the show wrapped. Whether that is the actual reason behind Phypers and Richads’ divorce filing remains heavily debated.
