Ryan Reynolds Once Said He Would Do ‘Anything’ for Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has been friends with Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for years. Swift thanked the couple while winning Album of the Year at the Grammys, and has become involved in the ongoing legal battle between Lively and Justin Baldoni. Before the reported tension in Swift and Lively’s relationship, Reynolds said he was willing to do anything for the singer.
Ryan Reynolds spoke about his love for Taylor Swift
In 2022, a teaser for Reynolds’ movie Deadpool & Wolverine appeared to take place in the same location as All Too Well: The Short Film. This led people to think Swift would make a cameo in the film. While Reynolds wouldn’t confirm this, he said he would “of course” like to see Swift in his film.
“Are you kidding me?” he asked Entertainment Tonight. “I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius.”
He added that his entire family loved her latest album, Midnights.
“Oh my God, yes. All of us, whole house, I’m not kidding. I love it so much,” he said. “I do, Blake does, my daughters. We love it. Obsessed.”
Reynolds said that it took his three daughters a long time to realize Swift was an international superstar.
“I think what’s most exciting for them is that for the longest time they just thought Taylor’s just a, you know, like an aunt, like a friend of mommy and daddy that’s very, very close, almost family,” the Deadpool star explained on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show. “And then they went to a concert one day and were like, ‘Ohhhhh, this isn’t a hobby.'”
Ryan Reynolds reportedly encouraged Blake Lively to talk to Taylor Swift about their friendship
Recently, rumors have circulated that Swift and Lively have been at odds. Due to the lawsuit between Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni, texts between the longtime friends have surfaced.
In one message, Lively mentioned that Reynolds encouraged her to reach out to Swift. She noted that she has felt like a “bad friend” and had felt distance from Swift.
“You were generous to not only be the key person there for me during all of it, but also to let me off the hook for being so in it,” she wrote, per The Hollywood Reporter. “But I still have a feeling something may not be right. I told Ryan. He said to just ask you.”
Swift responded to say she felt “exhausted” and said Lively’s recent messages sounded off.
“It’s more like… and I feel really bad saying anything about this because your texts have been so nice in their intent but your last few… it’s felt like I was reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees,” she wrote. “You said the word ‘we’ like 18 times. And it feels awful to be in any way critical of any way you process what you’ve been going through but I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself, not like. A plural unit.”
Swift added that she didn’t feel like Lively needed to apologize, but said she missed her friend.
She reportedly witnessed him confront Justin Baldoni
Swift and another friend, Hugh Jackman, were reportedly present at the couple’s apartment when Reynolds confronted Baldoni. An unsealed document noted that Baldoni “was fat shaming Blake [Lively]” (via People).
Reynolds reportedly “unloaded” on Baldoni about “how horrible it was” to ask a woman about her weight. The document noted that Swift and Jackman “were also present in the apt at the time.”
