Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were already skating on thin ice over their ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein when King Charles announced they would be evicted from the Royal Lodge residence they shared. But when the U.S. Department of Justice released millions of pages of documents related to the Epstein investigations in which Sarah and Andrew’s names were mentioned hundreds of times, their move out of the massive royal estate was accelerated.

Andrew was sent to live more than 100 miles away in a modest home in Norfolk, while Sarah was told to find her own accommodations. The former Duchess of York went into hiding and, after seven months, was photographed at a luxury chalet in the Austrian Alps.

Now that Sarah and her ex are totally cut off from the royal family, there’s been chatter that she ran out of money and has resorted to trying to negotiate with King Charles and Prince William to receive a pension of sorts. In exchange for that income, Sarah would not take part in a tell-all interview.

The claim was made by royal biographer Andrew Lownie, who authored the book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York.

He told The Mirror that Sarah is no doubt trying to negotiate a pension, with the outcome likely to influence her next move, explaining, “That may be what Fergie’s negotiating at the moment. Can she get a nice pension from them and not have to do an Oprah interview?”

Lownie also said that Prince William and King Charles’ request for Sarah and Andrew’s daughters to submit a financial audit was refused.

Despite their parents’ public scandal and living in exile, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have not been cut off from the royal family and are still welcomed to appear at upcoming events with them, including their cousin, Peter Phillips’ wedding in June.
