It appears that more changes are coming for Prince Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, after the disgraced royal announced that he would relinquish his Duke of York title and other honors.

In a statement, Andrew said he came to the decision after discussions with King Charles and “wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family … I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me.”

But some felt that wasn’t enough. That’s because while Andrew and Sarah can no longer use the Duke and Duchess of York titles, they are still residing in their massive Royal Lodge estate while damning allegations about their association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continue to surface.

Something else that has surfaced is an unusual comment Fergie made a few years back about her life with Andrew following their divorce. Here’s the three-word remark that was brought up again now that the two have requested to live in separate royal residences.

Sarah’s comment about being divorced from Prince Andrew

Prince Andrew and Sarah divorced back in 1996. But have been living under the same roof since 2008. That’s something that left many people scratching their heads over the years, but Fergie maintained that the arrangement had worked well for them.

In fact, Sarah once gushed to the Daily Mail with three words describing them as the “happiest divorced couple.”

“We’re the happiest divorced couple in the world,” she told the publication. “We’re divorced to each other, not from each other … We really believe in each other … We’re totally respectful of each other’s position and thoughts and we listen to each other … And we sit round the table and have afternoon tea together. It’s a very important part of our lives.”

Andrew and Fergie may get exactly what they asked for

Despite Prince Andrew’s 75-year lease agreement to live at Royal Lodge, it was reported on Oct. 27 that he and Fergie see the “writing on the wall” and will agree to vacate the 30-room mansion if they are given two other homes to reside in.

Some have found it strange that after living together so long following their divorce that they would request to live in separate homes now.

A friend of the former couple told The Sun, “Incredibly, Sarah has said she wants Adelaide Cottage. Sarah and Andy have lived together at Royal Lodge since 2008, despite being divorced, and seem like they are still a married couple. It’s incredible that they are willing to go their own separate ways. But it indicates that they have been under immense strain this year and need a break from one another. It’s a fresh start for both.”

Andrew is reportedly eyeing Prince Harry and Meghan’s former Frogmore Cottage home to be his new potential residence, while Sarah wants Adelaide Cottage, where Prince William and Kate are due to exit in the next few weeks.

Fergie and Andrew’s pal added, “Frogmore Cottage is too small for both, and Adelaide Cottage is around the corner, so they will see each other whenever they want. Both have space for their daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, and their families to visit.”

It is believed negotiations are currently underway to get them into separate Crown Estate properties.
