Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor might have been the first royal family member connected to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, but he’s not the last. In recent weeks, as her eviction date drew nearer, Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, became more closely associated with Epstein. Her emails, fawning over the convicted sex offender, have been heavily scrutinized. Her connection to the felon has also reignited a conversation about Sarah Ferguson’s finances and the lavish parties she threw despite being hard up for cash. Let’s take a look back at everything that’s happened with her money drama over the years.

Sarah Ferguson has had a host of money problems over the years

Sarah Ferguson has found herself in a real pickle. The former royal’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein was far deeper than she ever admitted, and now everyone knows it. The release of the Epstein Files revealed telling emails in which Ferguson fawned over Epstein. The files also revealed he had given her large sums of money. The connection, which she once described as an “error in judgment,” was very deep and very close. Some people think her insatiable spending habits led her to cozy up to the convict.

According to reports over the years, Sarah Ferguson always enjoyed spending wantonly.  Andrew Lownie, a historian, is penning a book about Ferguson’s exploits. He once noted that she is well known for complaining about money troubles, while still spending lavishly. According to the Daily Mail, he recalled an incident in which Ferguson threw a champagne party for a crew of 150 people who helped her move out of her home. Ferguson was moving because the lease was too expensive. According to Lownie, she spent thousands per month on phone bills and an expansive staff. She wasted even more dough on expensive shopping trips and railed at staff who dared to mention bills.

Where is Sarah Ferguson now?

Sarah Ferguson’s money troubles aren’t just in the past. The former duchess is likely to face significant economic challenges going forward. Unless, of course, her daughters are willing to pick up the tab. She has been evicted from the Royal Lodge, where she had been living with her ex-husband, despite their long-ago divorce. While there were some murmurings that she might take up residence in Portugal, it appears she has opted for a different foreign destination, at least for now.

According to several reports, Fergie has taken refuge in the United Arab Emirates. According to reports, she might not be planning to stay long-term. Rather, she may beusing Dubai as a landing spot while the heat from the files is still intense. Rumors suggest she’s plotting a return to public life and is willing to share her royal secrets to get back in the good graces of the public. Whether that will actually happen, though, is anyone’s guess.
