Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the most famous actresses in the world. She’s also one of the most stylish due to her influential fashion choices, whether she’s walking the streets of Manhattan as Carrie Bradshaw or walking a red carpet in her own confident SJP style. Her collaborations with designers and brands have further solidified her reputation for elegance and individuality in the fashion history.

On the star’s 61st birthday, hair and beauty expert Danielle Louise spoke about how Parker’s signature style reflects a wider shift in how women approach aging.

“Sarah Jessica Parker has never relied on dramatic transformations. Her look is about refinement, soft color, natural movement and skin that looks like skin,” Louise said via Fresha, the world’s leading beauty and wellness booking platform. “It evolves with her, rather than trying to reverse time.”

Here’s more about Parker’s looks and style and how you can achieve those.

Parker’s long waves and ‘lived-in’ blonde color

The actress hasn’t shifted away from the hairstyle and color that has worked for her for several years now. According to Louise, “This look works because it isn’t perfect. The slight messiness is what makes it modern.”

To get Parker’s signature soft textured waves, use a large barrel tong and alternate the curl direction brushing the hair out to avoid a set finish. Volume at the roots is key, however, it’s not recommended to use too much hairspray in order to keep the hair looking flowy and natural.

As for her hair color, Parker’s maintains that “lived-in,” multi-tonal blonde shade over high-maintenance colors. For this look, ask your stylist for balayage with a slightly darker root and lighter pieces around the face to add brightness. This is the way to go as many women are looking for lower-maintenance salon routines and color that lasts longer between appointments.

Parker’s ‘skin-on makeup’

When it comes to SJP’s makeup, she favors a softer look over heavy coverage spread over her entire face. Her makeup focuses on glow, texture, and subtle definition using lightweight bases, a cream blush, and softly defined brows.

To recreate that you’ll want to enhance your natural features rather than hide or cover them with product.

“Skin-first makeup is becoming more popular because it works with your features, not against them,” Louise shared. “It’s especially important as skin changes over time.”

Parker prefers a smokey eye with softer tones when creating definition around the eyes. For this, use brown or charcoal. Smudged liner and blended shadows create definition without harshness, making the look more wearable day-to-day. Pair it with neutral lips to keep the overall look balanced.

Louise says the reason Parker’s beauty approach still works at 61 is because it “reflects a broader shift in beauty trends, where the focus is moving away from chasing viral looks and towards finding styles that are sustainable long-term. People are becoming more selective with trends. There’s more interest in looks that are wearable, flattering and easy to maintain, rather than constant change. As a result, Parker’s approach, built on consistency, subtle updates, and working with natural features, is increasingly seen as the blueprint for modern beauty.”
