Sarah Jessica Parker is saying goodbye to one of her most iconic roles. As the finale of And Just Like That… approaches, she has posted a beautiful tribute to Carrie Bradshaw. Parker doesn’t seem like she’s ready to let the character go, but HBO thinks it’s time. To soothe her broken heart, she is holding on to another iconic part. Parker teased a return to Salem for Hocus Pocus 3, where she will reprise her role as Sarah Sanderson. Parker became Sarah Sanderson years before she ever slipped on a pair of Manolos as Carrie Bradshaw.

Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed she’s open to reprising the role of Sarah Sanderson

Hocus Pocus wasn’t a hit when it premiered in 1993, but it’s become a cult classic over the years. It’s so beloved that a second installment was released in 2022, nearly 30 years after fans first met the Sanderson sisters. It looks like those fans won’t need to wait 30 more years for another chance to catch up with Winifred, Sarah, and Mary. Murmurs about a third flick began circulating months ago. Sarah Jessica Parker recently confirmed there have been talks.

During her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on July 13, 2025, Parker was asked by fans if there were any updates on Hocus Pocus 3. Parker’s comments were measured, but she made it clear that the project was in some form of development: “We would like to do it,” she said. Parker went on to confirm that “we’ve been having some conversations” with Disney about another sequel. Still, she didn’t share more. While it’s not greenlit, it sounds like Sarah Jessica Parker has no plans on turning down the chance to return to one of her other iconic roles.

Sarah Jessica Parker was Sarah Sanderson before she was Carrie Bradshaw

Sarah Jessica Parker reprising her role as Sarah Sanderson once again feels like the right move. It comes at the right time, at least. Fans needed some good news as she closes the door on Carrie Bradshaw, likely for good. Parker has actually transformed into the mystical witch years before she became known as a sex columnist. Hocus Pocus, believe it or not, originally premiered in 1993, a full five years before Parker took on the role of Carrie Bradshaw.

Sure, Parker returned to the part of Carrie far more often than she reprised her role as a Sanderson sister, but both parts are pretty iconic. If we can’t have Carrie, it’s nice to know Sarah Sanderson’s return is imminent. While it looks like the flick will happen, it’s unclear when fans can expect it. No release date or production schedule has been set. The movie is currently in pre-production, with details yet to be finalized.

The And Just Like That… finale will air on HBO Max on Augusts 14.
