The family is confident that someone in the city knows something and could be the key to resolving the case, regardless of how it ends.
Everything we know about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance so far
Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in the early morning hours of February 1. While the octogenerian reportedly had staff to help her throughout the day, she lived alone and did not have overnight care. Hours before her abduction, she dined with her daughter, Annie, and nothing appeared amiss. She was returned home by her family after 9 pm.
Sometime in the early morning hours of February 1, a masked individual approached Guthrie’s front door, disabling the doorbell camera. Minutes later, a medical device stopped pairing with her phone. The Guthrie family was alerted that something was wrong around noon on February 1. A friend contacted the family after Nancy failed to show up for a scheduled get-together. Police were called a short time later.
Within days of her disappearance, a ransom note was sent to several news outlets. Additional notes were received by TMZ, in which the author demanded Bitcoin for the woman’s release. An additional set of notes was sent to the outlet by someone claiming to know who took Nancy Guthrie. They, too, requested Bitcoin for information. By late February, the police cleared family members of wrongdoing, though they appeared no closer to finding the assailant.
As of March 23, Nancy Guthrie remains missing. The police and FBI maintain that Nancy Guthrie is a kidnapping victim and did not leave the house of her own accord. The family is now offering a $1 million reward for information leading to her return. The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie. While updates are more sporadic, the investigation is ongoing.
