Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently on trial for sex trafficking and racketeering, and he is reportedly preparing to turn to Donald Trump for help. Trump is preparing to pardon reality TV couple Todd and Julie Chrisley, and also granted rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black clemency during his first term. Combs is hoping to join their ranks. Sources say his allies are working on scoring a pardon for Combs.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reportedly hopes Donald Trump will pardon him
Combs’ trial for sex trafficking and racketeering began on May 5. If found guilty, he could go to prison for the rest of his life. Combs has pleaded not guilty and is hoping the jury rules in his favor. If they don’t, though, he is reportedly looking for a backup plan. Those close to Combs are “making connections with the Trump team” in an effort to secure a pardon.
“He’s willing to do anything to get out of jail,” a source who has known Combs for a decade told Rolling Stone, adding, “He’s always been this way. He’s always going to do what he has to do to get out of a situation.”
The source added that Combs “doesn’t even like Donald Trump,” though the disgraced mogul has spoken highly of him over the years. Trump has also expressed his admiration for Combs.
“I love Diddy,” Trump said in a 2012 episode of The Apprentice. “You know he’s a good friend of mine; he’s a good guy.”
Still, sources say securing a presidential pardon will not be easy for Combs.
