Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Made More ‘Drastic’ Mistakes Than Other People, Said Rapper Before His Arrest
Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently in a Brooklyn jail awaiting his sentencing after a jury found him guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Long before this, though, people knew that he made mistakes despite his success. One of his associates said that Combs made bigger mistakes than most people.

Combs’ public image is at an all-time low. Still, he has faced controversy in the past. Combs said people shouldn’t believe all they’d heard about him.
“I’m the president of the leading custom label at this time,” he told The New York Times in 1997. “I’m in the studio 20 hours a day. Unless I’m sleepwalking, I don’t know how I have the time to be running around doing that gangster stuff. The newspapers paint a picture of me like I’m on the level of John Gotti, but on a black tip. People think that I can possess that power or possess that emotion and heartlessness and coldness to take somebody’s life.”
Heavy D, who helped Combs get a job at Uptown Records at the start of his career, acknowledged that Combs made a lot of mistakes, though. While he thought the mistakes were a result of his youth, he said Combs’ blunders were more significant than most people’s.
“He’s young,” he said. ”He’s going to make mistakes, but unfortunately some of his mistakes were more drastic than they needed to be.”
Combs eventually lost his job at Uptown Records.
