After three days of deliberation, jurors in the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs case dealt a massive blow to the prosecution. While they found Combs guilty on charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, he avoided the more serious charges. The amount of time Combs could spend in prison is now significantly lower. It seemed that several jurors were unimpressed with the prosecution’s closing arguments.

Jurors did not seem convinced by the case the prosecution presented against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

In the closing arguments of Combs’ case, the prosecution insisted the music mogul had coerced and threatened his former girlfriends into having sex with male sex workers. They also accused him of running a criminal enterprise. If the jury agreed with them on this point, they would find Combs guilty of the racketeering charge. This could carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.

According to reporters in the courtroom, though, the jurors did not seem convinced by the prosecution’s arguments.

“You could tell that there were several of them that were not buying what the prosecution was putting forth in their arguments,” NBC News correspondent Chloe Melas said. “I saw some roll their eyes. I saw some even fall asleep. Some clearly not buying what the prosecution was saying in their closing arguments.”

In a massive blow to the prosecution, jurors acquitted Combs on one charge of racketeering conspiracy and two charges of sex trafficking. The prosecution will push for the maximum 20-year sentence on the two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution.
