Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Lead Attorney Said He Has ‘Nothing’ to Do With Securing a Presidential Pardon
After Sean “Diddy” Combs’ relative legal victory, he is hoping for an even bigger win with a presidential pardon. Combs’ legal team has reportedly communicated with the White House, and Donald Trump has shared some thoughts on a pardon. Still, Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said he is in no way involved with obtaining a pardon.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is seeking a presidential pardon from Donald Trump
This summer, a jury found Combs guilty of the lesser two charges against him. While this significantly reduced the possible length of his sentence, he still faces time behind bars. His attorneys are aiming to keep any prison sentence as light as possible. One of Combs’ attorneys, Nicole Westmoreland, said she believed the defense team “had conversations in reference to a pardon” with Trump.
Even before the jury reached a verdict, Combs’ team reportedly wanted to secure a pardon for him.
“He’s willing to do anything to get out of jail,” a source who has known Combs for a decade told Rolling Stone, adding, “He’s always been this way. He’s always going to do what he has to do to get out of a situation.”
The White House has declined to comment on the matter.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorney said he is not helping pursue a pardon
While the pursuit of a pardon appears to be underway, Agnifilo said he is not involved in these talks.
“I have nothing to do with a possible pardon,” he told CBS News.
He claimed that he had not even discussed a pardon with other members of Combs’ legal team, saying he’d had “conversations with nobody.”
“I have not spoken to the president,” he said, adding, “I have not spoken to anybody who speaks to the president about Sean Combs. I have not.”
Still, Combs has talked to him about his desire for a pardon. He believes that he deserves one from Trump.
“He says, ‘Go tell him [Trump] that I need a pardon,'” Agnofilo said. “‘Go tell him I deserve a pardon.’ That’s what he said.”
Donald Trump said the mogul’s past comments about him could make a pardon ‘difficult’
While the White House declined to comment on the matter, Trump has discussed Combs’ case.
“He was essentially, I guess, sort of half-innocent,” Trump told Rob Finnerty (via The Guardian). “He was celebrating a victory, but I guess it wasn’t as good of a victory.”
In the past, Combs expressed his dislike of Trump, even saying he wanted to do everything in his power to get him out of office. Trump said comments like these would make a pardon difficult.
“When I ran for office, he was very hostile,” he said. “It’s hard, you know? We’re human beings. And we don’t like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone and you were fine, and then you run for office, and he made some terrible statements. So I don’t know … It makes it more difficult to do.”
Combs’ sentencing date is Oct. 3, 2025.
