While many people have distanced themselves from Sean “Diddy” Combs, his mother has remained one of his staunchest supporters. Janice Smalls Combs has a close relationship with her son and has attended his trial. Recently, Combs mouthed a message to his mother from a distance.

Combs has previously landed in hot water with Judge Arun Subramanian for seemingly communicating with the jury during witness testimony. While his legal team promised Combs would cease any attempt at communication with the jury, he has passed on messages to others in the courtroom.
Combs has nodded at members of the press, blown a kiss at the sketch artist, and told the entire courtroom “I love you all.”
He has also communicated with his mother. When the courtroom returned from lunch on June 9, he mouthed “I love you, mommy.”

Combs’ mother has been unwavering in her support of her son. Following his arrest, she issued a statement in his defense.
“I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs,” she told Us Weekly. “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.”
She added that people should hold their judgment until Combs’ trial, noting her firm belief that the jury would find him innocent.
Janice also said she was “not here to portray [her] son as perfect because he is not,” adding, “He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have. My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise.”
She said the public reaction to Combs’ arrest has been painful for her to handle.
“Watching the world make jokes and laugh at my son’s life crumbling before our eyes is something I can never forget,” she said. “It is truly agonizing to watch the world turn against my son so quickly and easily over lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or affording him the opportunity to present his side.”
She also asserted her belief that many of the allegations against him were “false” and motivated by “financial gain.”
Who else has supported him in the courtroom?
Combs’ mother has been a frequent presence in the courtroom. A number of his other family members have supported him as well.
His children Quincy Brown, Justin Combs, Christian “King” Combs, Chance Combs, D’Lila Combs, and Jessie Combs have also attended. Combs’ ex, Misa Hylton, also appeared in court, but she said she was only there to support her son, Justin.
“Misa’s appearance and her attendance at Mr. Combs’ trial is strictly in support of her son Justin and his siblings,” her lawyer told USA Today. “During the course of these allegations against Mr. Combs, it has proven to be a very challenging and difficult time for all involved especially his children.”‘
