Kim Porter was an important figure in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ life, even after their breakup. The former couple shared three children together, and they were friendly until her death in 2018. Combs said her death devastated him, and he turned to music as a way to express his emotions. He told a collaborator that he wanted to write a song so good that Porter would respond to it from beyond the grave.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs released a song about Kim Porter after her death

Combs and Porter were together in the late 1990s and split in 2001. They reconciled two years later, but called things off for good in 2006. Despite this, Combs and Porter remained on friendly terms.

In 2018, Porter died of lobar pneumonia. Combs posted a tribute to her on his Instagram account.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do without you baby. I miss you so much,” he wrote. “We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER S***!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love.”
