Selena Gomez recently attended the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Houston Texans with Taylor Swift and Lena Dunham. The home game did not go well for the Chiefs, with them losing 20-10. While Gomez was born in Texas, she was presumably there to support Travis Kelce. Her expression during the game has gained attention for capturing how many fans felt about the game.

On Dec. 7, the Chiefs played the Texans in a home game at Arrowhead Stadium. This has been a tough season for the Chiefs, particularly after several dominant years. Swift, a frequent presence at games, brought two of her best friends to cheer on her fiancé. Gomez and Dunham joined her in the suite.

The game ultimately did not go the Chiefs’ way. The team lost 20-10, dropping their season record to 6-7. With this loss, their chances of making it to the playoffs have grown slim.

“We know the (playoff) chances are getting lower and lower, but I know the guys on this team are going to give everything they have, every opportunity we get,” said quarterback Patrick Mahomes, per CBS Sports.

Understandably, the loss disappointed Chiefs’ fans. Gomez’s expression reflected what many fans were feeling. In a photo from the game, Gomez looked rattled and disappointed.

“Selena’s face pretty much sums up how that game went for the Chiefs (or even season),” wrote one Reddit user.

“I was making Selena’s face every time I checked in on that game,” added another person. “Woof.”

People guessed at what Gomez could have been reacting to. Some noted that there were a lot of moments during the game that could have caused the disappointed expression on her face.

“Selena’s reacting to yet another dropped pass,” wrote one person.

Some noted that Gomez was a good friend to Swift to sit through the cold, disheartening game. The two women have been close for years.

“I don’t like any of my friends enough to watch their boyfriend fumble for 4 hours,” wrote one person.

Fans wonder if Travis Kelce could retire soon

The Chiefs’ recent loss has renewed the conversation about Kelce’s retirement, particularly after comments made by Mahomes.

“Every season I’ve had with him these last few years, I try to cherish, because you never know,” Mahomes said after losing to the Houston Texans on Sunday, Dec. 7, according to Page Six, adding, “He got himself in great shape this year, and he’s played great football. He’ll have the option to do whatever he wants to do after this season, but I know one thing: He’ll give everything he has for the rest of this season to try to give us a chance to make a playoff run.”

Kelce’s contract will expire after the 2025 NFL season, and he has not committed to anything beyond that.
