Selena Gomez’s Wedding Jewelry Was a ‘Masterclass’ in Refinement, Said Jewelry Expert
This weekend, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco married in a star-filled wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara. The couple announced their engagement at the end of 2024. This month, they thrilled fans when they dropped photos from their wedding ceremony. Gomez’s choice in jewelry caught the eye of jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia. He said her jewelry told a story on her wedding day.
Selena Gomez made a statement with her wedding jewelry
On Saturday, Sept. 27, Gomez and Blanco married in Santa Barbara. She wore a halter-neck dress from Ralph Lauren and diamond jewelry. Rakholia, the founder of Abelini, said her jewelry perfectly complemented her dress.
“Selena Gomez’s bridal jewelery was a masterclass in restraint and refinement — every choice she made elevated her look without ever overwhelming it,” Rakholia tells Showbiz Cheat Sheet in an emailed statement. “With a Ralph Lauren gown that made such a sculptural statement at the neckline, she wisely kept her décolletage bare, allowing the craftsmanship of her dress to shine. Instead, she chose diamond drop earrings — refined yet meaningful.”
He believes the teardrop shape of the earrings could have been a symbolic choice.
“The soft teardrop silhouette, long associated with joy and emotional depth, made them a profoundly romantic choice for her wedding day,” he said. “At the same time, their elongated lines gently framed her face, catching the light with every movement and adding a sense of effortless fluidity without competing with the gown’s architectural presence. The result was a modern yet timeless accent that perfectly balanced sentiment with high-fashion restraint.”
On her right hand, Gomez also wore two diamond bands on her index and middle fingers. He believes she carefully considered this choice.
“On her wedding day, Selena also chose to wear two diamond bands on separate fingers — one a pavé-set eternity ring symbolising everlasting love, the other a slender diamond band that added a note of subtle refinement,” Rakholia said. “The decision felt intentional — a play between strength and delicacy, romance and individuality. While she styled them apart for the ceremony, together with her marquise-cut engagement ring they have the potential to be worn as a striking stack — offering her a versatile, modern way to reinterpret her bridal set in the years ahead.”
Her engagement ring also tells a story
Gomez also wore her diamond engagement ring. Rakholia shared the history of the cut.
“Revealed last Christmas, it is a bold and romantic statement,” he said. “It features a marquise-shaped diamond — a cut rich in history, first commissioned by King Louis XV in the 18th century to resemble the smile of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. The shape has long been associated with aristocracy, elegance, and individuality.”
While the cut is historic, Rakholia noted that Gomez’s ring feels distinctly modern.
“Selena’s version is set on pavé shoulders in 18-karat yellow gold, which adds a modern, luminous touch to the traditional silhouette,” he added. “Depending on the diamond’s exact weight and quality, it is estimated to be worth around £200,000 (approximately $225,000). The choice of a marquise cut also aligns her with iconic women in history and pop culture, from Jackie Kennedy to Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez — but with a design that still feels uniquely her own.”
All together, Gomez’s wedding-day diamonds felt perfectly suited to the ceremony and her style.
“Selena’s bridal jewels carried more than sparkle — they became part of the love story itself,” he said. “Carefully chosen, they blended symbolism and style, weaving together joy, commitment, and history with a sense of modern elegance that felt unmistakably her own.”
