Shaquille O’Neal Clarified That He ‘Wasn’t Trying to Hit on Megan Thee Stallion’ When He Commented on Her ‘Booty’
Megan Thee Stallion has been making headlines recently after boyfriend Klay Thompson gifted her a “dream Bentley” for her birthday, and the rapper traveled to Italy and joined NBC’s coverage of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
During a YouTube short with newly engaged Team USA stars Brittany Bowe and Hilary Knight, Megan admitted that she hopes to receive a proposal from Thompson in the near future. The celebrity couple went public with their relationship in July 2025, and now many are remembering what one basketball legend predicted about the pair when they first got together.
Former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal weighed in when it was first reported that the “Body” artist and the Dallas Mavericks shooting guard were dating, saying on his The Big Podcast with Shaq that it wouldn’t last longer than six weeks.
It’s now been six months and Megan and Thompson are still going strong, and some fans have recalled that Shaq’s remark about them not lasting isn’t the first time he made a comment about Megan.
Back in 2020, the former Los Angeles Lakers center caused quite a frenzy when he joined Megan’s Instagram Live and one of the commenters asked what he was doing there. Shaq quickly responded, “Watching that booty.”
His son, Shareef, then entered the chat and chimed in with “I feel you, pops.”
A number of fans opined at the time that the NBA Hall of Famer was “trying to shoot his shot” with Megan. But Shaq denied that was the case, telling TMZ, “This is what happened, America … I was in [the IG Live session]. Somebody said, ‘What are you doing in there?’ And, I typed what I typed. I wasn’t trying to hit on her.”
When asked if Megan reacted to what he wrote, Shaq insisted that he had no idea because he never even checked for that.
