Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth: A Complete Relationship Timeline
Shia LaBeouf’s legal issues continue to mount, after the semi-retired actor turned himself in to New Orleans police after a new arrest warrant was issued. While the latest arrest seems to be linked ot a string of bad behavior after a week of drinking during Mardi Gras, LaBeouf has dismissed the notion that alcoholism might be at play. Shia LaBeouf reportedly stated that he’s not “into” the idea of heading back to rehab, after both a judge and his ex-partner, Mia Goth, suggested it. Most of LaBeouf’s drama seems to have started following his split from Goth. Let’s take a look back at thier relationship and the steadying effect she seemed to have on him.
Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth meet on a movie set
Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth met on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II. They hit it off and started dating almost immediately. LaBeouf, then 26, and Goth, then 19, had an on-again-off-again romance for several years following their first meeting. She was in the background during his “performance art” era, for example.
In 2016, the pair announced they had married in Las Vegas. While they did have a ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator, the validity of that marriage has been called into question on numerous occasions. It doesn’t appear that the couple filed paperwork to be considered legally wed during the 2016 stunt.
The pair split in 2018 after getting married in Las Vegas
While LaBeouf and Goth had a rocky, up-and-down romance for many years, they seemingly split for good in 2018. The duo didn’t speak much about the split, but they did note they had decided to end their romance amicably due to differences in lifestyle and priorities. They opted not to elaborate further.
Goth kept things quiet, while LaBeouf moved on pretty quickly and pretty publicly. He didn’t waste much time finding a new romantic partner. Some onlookers even questioned if LaBeouf had, perhaps, cheated on Mia Goth. Neither ever commented on the allegations.
They reconciled following a bad publicity run for LaBeouf
In 2020, Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth reconnected following a string of publicly damaging reports about the Transformers star. In 2019, he was the subject of abuse allegations, following a relationship with FKA Twigs. The British singer and actor claimed that during their year-long romance, LaBeouf was manipulative and abusive. In December 2020, Twigs filed a civil lawsuit against LaBeouf in Los Angeles Superior Court. In the documents, she accused LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. LaBeouf and FKA Twigs settled out of court.
Around the time of the allegations, LaBeouf opted to enter rehab. He later credited Mia Goth for helping him through the rough patch and supporting his sobriety journey. During an appearance on Real Ones, LaBeouf said Goth was in his corner when he didn’t deserve anyone, and helped give him hope for a brighter future. They reconciled romantically in 2021.
Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth broke up again in late 2025
While things between LaBeouf and Goth appeared to be going well after thier reconcilation, it wasn’t meant to last long term. The pair quietly welcomed a child together in 2022 and were living pretty cohesively in Los Angeles until late 2025.
According to several sources, LaBeouf and Goth quietly separated in September 2025, with Goth remaining in Los Angeles with the couple’s child, and LaBeouf moving to New Orleans. While the former flames never announced thier breakup, LaBeouf has been chaotically dating since the split, with police paying him a visit in late 2025 after a squabble with a short-term ex.
Goth has been keeping a mostly low profile since the breakup, though reports indicate she does believe her ex needs to head back to rehab. She appeared solo at the 2026 SAG Actors Awards. She didn’t comment on LaBeouf or his recent string of troubles.
