Shia LaBeouf’s Mardi Gras experience ended inside a jail cell after a bar brawl spilled out onto the streets of the Big Easy. According to several reports, LaBeouf was arrested in the early morning hours of February 17 for simple assault after he attacked multiple bar patrons after he was asked to leave. Videos of the semi-retired actor being restrained by onlookers who grew tired of the scene have surfaced. Apparently, the incident isn’t the first time LaBeouf kicked up trouble during his recent visit. Apparently, he’d been terrorizing the city for the better part of a week.

Shia LaBeouf was ‘terrorizing’ New Orleans before his Mardi Gras arrest

Shia LaBeouf’s scrape with the law may appear to have come out of nowhere, but apparently, the Holes actor has gained a bit of a reputation in New Orleans. LaBeouf was apparently spending some time in the Big Easy, and word of his in-bar behavior spread quickly. A bartender who wished to remain anonymous spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that the former Hollywood A-lister was “terrorizing” the city before his arrest.

His behavior was apparently so egregious that multiple bartenders were talking about him before police hauled him in. That’s certainly saying something, considering just how rowdy Mardi Gras participants are known for getting. For LaBeouf to stand out in the crowd, he must have been especially obnoxious. According to reports, he was aggressive at some locations, loud at others, and totally “chill” at a few more. He was kicked out of multiple establishments during his stay.

The ‘Fury’ star has shared his sobriety journey in the past

Shia LaBeouf’s arrest was preceded by a nearly week-long bar crawl that left even the city’s most seasoned bartenders gossiping. Before that, though, LaBeouf was once focused on sobriety. Back in 2022, he announced that he had more than 600 days sober. He hadn’t discussed it much in recent months. Still, it was largely assumed that he was still commited to his recovery. At the very least, there was no evidence to the contrary until now.

Before turning up in Louisiana, LaBeouf was last spotted on the red carpet for the UK premiere of Salvable looking healthy, with a large moustache. He also attended the Cannes International Film Festival back in May. While LaBeouf has said he is in a relationship with Mia Goth in recent years, she doesn’t appear to have been in Louisiana with LaBeouf, nor has she issued a statement following his arrest. Goth and LaBeouf share a daughter.
