Singer Jewel Is Facing Backlash for Racy New Look She Debuted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s Wedding
There was no shortage of celebrity guests who attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Venice. The $50 million extravaganza, which was dubbed the “Wedding of the Century,” took place in the Italian city over three days.
Some of the stars on hand included Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Orlando Bloom, Bill Gates, Tom Brady, Leonardo Di Caprio and Vittoria Ceretti, Usher and Jenn Goicoechea, Eva Longoria, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Sydney Sweeney, and and recording artist Jewel.
There were plenty of storylines among the famous guests from Orlando Bloom celebrating the single life after his split from Katy Perry to Sydney Sweeney sparking romance rumors with not only the Pirates of the Caribbean star but also Tom Brady to Kris Jenner pushing for her single daughters to find some well-off partners at the event. But Jewel’s mere attendance sparked backlash from a number of her fans who claim she’s changed and not for the better. Some of her fans also weren’t happy about the “Save Your Soul” singer’s racy appearance at the affair.
Fans upset over Jewel’s friendship with Sánchez
Jewel and Sánchez have been friends for some time. They were even seen partying it up together last year at Bezos’ birthday party. So it makes sense that the musician was invited to her friend’s wedding. However, some fans had a real problem with Jewel attending.
They sounded off on X as well as in the comments section of two Instagram posts Jewel shared of the wedding. One post contained two images, the first was in a water taxi and the second showed her in a floor-length orange-red colored dress with a low neckline. She captioned it: “[Venice] is hands down my favorite city … The first time I came was in my 20s and it felt like walking inside a living poem … the light, the water, the architecture, the fact that there are no bikes or cars … it’s heaven to me.”
She donned another red dress in a post she shared and posed with a hawk, captioning that: “I met a hawk in Venice! It was so random — a man was just walking by with his bird of prey, and I asked if I could barrow [sic] it. I mean, what better accessory for an Alaskan in Venice?”
Several of her fans, however, went on the attack writing, “I miss the Jewel of the 90’s, who wouldn’t have fallen into this crowd. She was too smart for that” and “It’s like your current actions totally contradict the messages that flowed through your lyrics for so many years.”
A third fumed: “Long time fan, but I can’t follow you to the dark side. Your songs ring hollow if you’re attending events like this.
A fourth commented, “Thought you were better than this,” while a fifth chimed in, “So sad and disgusting. I think most of us thought you were a better person.”
Others were upset with Jewel’s sexy new look
But the criticism didn’t stop there. More of Jewel’s so-called fans also attacked the “You Were Meant for Me” songbird for her sexy appearance when a photo of her wearing a black lingerie dress by Dolce and Gabbana made the rounds.
One user posted, “What is this Jewel?! This is so disappointing,” before a second added, “D&G??? Yikes.”
A third person asked: “And now … who will save YOUR soul?”
But some other commenters did rally behind Jewel and complimented her, saying, “OMG you look so beautiful. Your natural beauty is perfection” and “Enjoy the wedding!!! You look amazing.”
