Katy Perry almost kissed a girl named Camilla Araújo.

That’s according to Araújo herself, who has become a popular social media influencer but often gets mistaken for Perry. Now, Araújo is revealing that she was waiting and ready to kiss the “Dark Horse” singer at one of her concerts.

Here’s what she said about that and being the Perry’s “doppelganger” on a recent podcast.

Camilla Araújo explains how she almost kissed Katy Perry

During an appearance on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, the host asked Araújo, “Has anyone ever told you you look like Katy Perry?”

“Yeah. All the time,” Araújo responded, before sharing that she has had encounters with Perry fans over the years who really think she’s the pop star. She recalled at the Formula 1 weekend in Miami, “Someone walked up, called me Katy.” And another time, she stepped out of a car and a fan greeted her with: “Katy Perry?” 

Araújo then relayed a story about how she almost kissed the “California Girls” artist at one of her shows.

“We made eye contact at her concert. She was singing it [“I Kissed a Girl”] to me and I was like ‘Oh, come here,'” Araújo told Paul, putting her finger in the air. “She saw me. I have it on f****** video. I swear to God. She looks at me and I’m like ‘I’m gonna kiss Katy Perry. I’m gonna kiss my doppelganger,’ [but] she walked away.”

Araújo is not giving up hope of one day getting that kiss, saying, “I’m gonna get my moment.”

The influencer previously posted about their resemblance, and fans agreed they look a lot alike.

One user wrote, “You do look like Katy Perry. Your voice even sounds like hers when you speak. It kind of makes me think of the Twin Theory. Somewhere out there … everyone on earth has a twin lol.” Another chimed in, “She does look exactly like Katy.”

“If someone wants to believe I’m Katy for a moment, fine by me,” Araújo said because she takes it as a compliment. “I don’t correct it immediately. It’s part of my brand now. I’m Camilla. But I’ll take the compliment and run with it.”

Araújo is a Brazilian model and social media influencer. She first gained public attention in 2021 after starring as Player 067 in MrBeast’s Squid Game recreation video. The recognition led to a massive surge in her popularity.

Today, she has 5.5 million followers on Instagram and 9.4 million on TikTok. Her posts on the platforms consist of a variety of lifestyle content from fashion to traveling to her appearance at events such as Paris Fashion Week.

Araújo also produces content on OnlyFans, which has earned her millions through tiered subscriptions and exclusive content on the platform. Her online business is substantial, reportedly earning her over $2 million a month at times. She’s also interested in engaging directly with her fans and does strategic brand collaborations. 

She has started branching into out to other areas as well such as real estate.
