Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s friendship has been under a microscope ever since the latter became embroiled in her legal battle with filmmaker Justin Baldoni. Lively received some pretty bad press, and many believe Swift stopped speaking to her because of that.

Although the Gossip Girl alum is no longer attending Kansas City Chiefs games with the pop star and they haven’t been photographed together since 2024, some insist there’s no bad blood. But that’s not what insiders are saying now.

Here’s what we know.

Fans think Swift’s ‘Cancelled’ lyrics are about Lively

On Oct. 3, fans celebrated the release of Swift’s highly anticipated album The Life of a Showgirl. Swifties immediately started dissecting each song and pinned the singer’s lyrics in “Cancelled” on Lively.

However, Swift still refers to whoever she’s speaking about as a “friend,” with the lines: “Good thing I like my friends cancelled/I like ’em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal/Like my whiskey sour/And poison thorny flowers.”

Lively served as the face of Gucci’s 2012 campaign. She also founded her own brand of premium alcoholic beverages called Betty Buzz and owned a flower shop while portraying florist Lily Bloom in It Ends With Us.

There have been other signs too that had fans believing the women might still be close after the Kelce brothers spoke highly of the actress recently.

In the first episode of the New Heights Film Club, Jason and Swift’s fiancé, Travis, reviewed Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The siblings had nothing but praise for Lively, who played Bridget Vreeland in the 2005 movie, and even referred to her as “our friend.”

“It is also the film debut of our friend Blake Lively. She killed it. Absolutely wonderful as Bridget,” Jason said.

“Killed it,” Travis chimed in. “I might be a little biased, but I thought Bridget’s story was the most relatable and probably the most fun.”

Sources say Swift and Lively haven’t been in touch in nearly a year

But despite that, a source told Page Six that Swift and Lively are no longer friends, saying, “They’ve had no contact” since last winter. A second insider confirmed that the ladies have not spoken to each other, but did not specify how long it’s been.

Baldoni mentioned Swift in his countersuit, claiming Lively “weaponized her friendship” with the global superstar. In text messages exchanged, the actress was allegedly referring to Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as her “dragons.”

The suit read: “The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively’s ‘dragons,’ two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him.”

An insider said at the time that Swift was hurt by that and felt used as she “really wished Blake hadn’t dragged her into this whole situation.”

Fans will find out for sure where Swift and Lively’s relationship stands if they’re photographed together again in the near future or if Lively is a part of or attends Swift’s upcoming wedding.
