Spencer Pratt Just Compared Himself to Jesus Christ
Spencer Pratt is known for making some pretty wild claims and lofty accusations. In fact, at this point, fans and followers have come to expect it from the former reality TV star. Despite a reputation for wild statements, no one was expecting the aspiring politician to compare himself to Jesus Christ and Barack Obama during the same interview. That’s exactly what Spencer Pratt did, though.

Spencer Pratt sat down for an interview on CNN on May 21. The interview, a massive moment in his political journey, took an unexpected turn, though. During the course of the chat, anchor Elex Michaelson asked Pratt who his political inspiration was. He came back with an unexpected answer, claiming Jesus Christ was his political inspiration and insisting he was a politician because he had to go out and talk to people.
Michaelson, amused by the odd response, tried to pull the conversation back, asking for a “modern-day inspiration.” Pratt then insisted that he was not like other politicians because he didn’t wish to be one. Eventually, however, he was coaxed into naming Barack Obama as a politician whose policies he would most align with. He went on to suggest that he’d further align himself with Obama by obtaining a law degree — something he believes could be completed during his bid for mayor of Los Angeles.
What is Spencer Pratt’s background?
Spencer Pratt’s insistence that Jesus Christ is his political role model has certainly caused several people to side-eye the political candidate and dig deeper into exactly what his background looks like. Pratt claims he doesn’t wish to be a politician because he never was one. In fact, his background has absolutely nothing to do with civil service.
Pratt rose to fame alongside his now-wife, Heidi Montag, on The Hills, an MTV series that followed young adults navigating life in Los Angeles. The series, a spinoff of Laguna Beach, was popular during the mid-2000s and led to celebrity status for several cast members, including Pratt, Montag, and Lauren Conrad.
After The Hills ended, Montag and Pratt focused mostly on brand deals, spending money, and celebrity life. She tried to launch a singing career; he made controversial statements and signed up for any reality TV show that would have him. In more recent years, they fell mostly quiet. Then, the Pacific Palisades fire happened. The couple lost their home and all of their belongings. Without the money to rebuild, Pratt decided the city of Los Angeles needed a big change — and that is his main motivation behind his political campaign. While he faces steep competition against incumbent Karen Bass, he has been gaining popularity. That could change after his Jesus Christ comment, though.
