Super Bowl Quarterbacks Drake Maye and Sam Darnold Give Separate Takes on Bad Bunny Doing the Halftime Show
With Super Bowl 60 fast approaching, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold took questions from the media about the game and this year’s halftime performer, Bad Bunny.
In September, the NFL announced that the Puerto Rican superstar would perform during the halftime show. The decision was met with backlash by some and therefore, has become a talking point leading up to the big game.
During Super Bowl Media Night, Maye gave his take on Bad Bunny and shared that he’s a fan of his music.
“I saw him in the Adam Sandler movie,” Maye said per MassLive.com. “I’m a big fan … Obviously, he sings in a different language. I can’t sing, but I’m a fan of Bad Bunny.”
Darnold was also asked for his thoughts about the “Dákiti” artist performing.
“I love his music,” Darnold said. “It’s great to have him perform at the Super Bowl. I wish that I could see it, but I’m afraid I’ll be getting ready for the second half at that moment. But I know a lot of people are excited about him performing.”
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke to reports about whether he was concerned Bad Bunny would get political, as he did when he won Album of the Year at the Grammys.
“Bad Bunny is one of the great artists in the world, and that’s one of the reasons we chose him,” Goodell answered (via CNN). “But the other reason is he understood the platform he was on. That this platform is used to unite people, and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talents, and to be able to use this moment to do that … I think Bad Bunny understands that, and I think he’ll have a great performance.”
