Survivor’s Boston Rob Criticized by Fans and Fellow Contestants After D.C. Trip With Daughter
Survivor alum Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano is under fire from the Survivor community. Mariano recently took a trip to Washington, D.C. with his daughter and her class. His trip to the White House and multiple snapshots in the post angered many people. Here are the former players who called him out, as well as the fans who feel frustrated.
‘Survivor’ alum Boston Rob faced criticism from former players after going to Washington, D.C.
On March 14, Mariano posted a series of images of a recent trip to Washington, D.C.
“Made some amazing memories with my #IsabettaRose on her class trip to Washington, DC #History,” he wrote in the caption.
These images included photos of himself and his daughter, monuments, and museum displays. He also posted a photo of himself sitting at the desk of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and holding a Time Magazine cover featuring Johnson. In another image, he holds a pin with Donald Trump’s name on it.
Former players Natalie Anderson and Carolyn Wiger called him out in the comments.
“Immediately no,” wrote Anderson.
“Girrrrrllllll,” added Wiger.
Both women played with Mariano in the past. Anderson completed with him on Survivor: Winners at War, and Wiger played against him on third season of The Traitors.
‘Survivor’ fans also made their feelings about Boston Rob’s trip clear
As Mariano’s Instagram comments prove, fans of Survivor are also not happy with some of the images in his post.
“DC is historically fascinating,” wrote one person. “Low key, it’s sad to see you essentially promoting this administration tho.”
“Well, the Trump and Johnson stuff is soooooo disappointing,” added another fan.
Fans have expressed disappointment on other social media platforms as well.
“As a Survivor fan since 2000, I’m hurt and shocked,” wrote one Reddit user.
Mariano is one of the most well-known Survivor players of all time. He first joined the show in its fourth season and became the first person to compete on it five times. He also appeared as a mentor alongside Sandra Diaz-Twine on Survivor: Island of the Idols. Mariano won for the first and only time on Survivor: Redemption Island.
“Ugh not a fan anymore,” wrote one person.
“I love Rob but this was insanely tone deaf,” added another person.
A number of people also shared GIFs of Mariano getting his torch snuffed out on Survivor. This is the ceremonial end to a player’s time on the game once they’ve been voted out.
While there was a good amount of backlash to Mariano’s post, others noted that it doesn’t definitely serve as an endorsement of the Trump administration.
