Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly planning to teach an entrepreneurship class during his prison sentence. He taught a similar course in his time at the Metropolitan Detention Center ahead of his sentence. At least one former inmate said he found the class to be very beneficial. Here’s what Combs is reportedly teaching while behind bars.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is teaching a class in prison

Combs is currently incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in New Jersey. While there, he plans to teach a course called Free Game With Diddy. He taught a similar course at MDC in Brooklyn. An inmate who took the course there, Ho Wen Kwok, described the class in a letter to the judge.

“‘Free Game With Diddy’ is a course where we are taught about life, entrepreneurship, and how he became one of the most successful icon-business moguls in the world starting from nothing,” Kwok wrote, per Us Weekly. “Where he helps people get his mind right and helps them find [their] light.”

Kwok said he watched Combs prepare for the class for months.

“I have seen him prepare for this class for few months where he would write and read books and take notes so that he can spread his knowledge and thoughts. For him to share the best information he can. For a first time in [MDC] I joined a program,” he wrote. “Also, for a first time, I’ve seen a whole unit participate where color or gang didn’t matter … the only thing that mattered was the equal goal of gaining knowledge and wisdom.”

Combs plans to bring his six-week course to Fort Dix. According to a syllabus obtained by Us Weekly, the course will meet several times each week for two-hour sessions.

The course aims to teach entrepreneurship, business management, and personal development to inmates. It will also provide “tools and strategic insights to launch, manage and grow successful business ventures” once they are out of prison.

Inmates are expected to attend “100 percent of the scheduled sessions over the six-week period” and “actively engage in class discussions, group activities and mentorship opportunities.” They will also receive homework assignments, including an essay that details “lessons learned from Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ journey, personal insights gained throughout the program and methods of achieving long-term goals.” At the end of the course, they will also have to pass a final exam.

A former inmate in his jail unit said the class seemed to change Diddy for the better

While Combs reportedly hopes to positively influence those taking his course, a former inmate at MDC said it seemed to change him. Raymond Castillo took the course at MDC.

“He said people need help. And he believes he was put there for a reason,” Castillo told Us Weekly. “He said he found his purpose. He found his passion, his love again.”

Combs will remain in prison until his projected release date of June 4, 2028.
