Taylor Frankie Paul’s shelved season of The Bachelorette is a major hit to The Bachelor franchise. The shows have seen a drop in viewership and an uptick in scandals in recent years. Adding to the problem is the franchise that promises a fairy tale ending is shockingly unsuccessful at creating lasting love. In the 50 seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, only a fraction of the winning couples are still together.

Taylor Frankie Paul and the winner of her ‘Bachelorette’ season reportedly broke up

ABC canceled Paul’s season of The Bachelorette after footage of a violent incident between Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, leaked. Paul’s 2023 arrest following the incident was public knowledge, but the leaked video proved to be too much for ABC and its parent company, Disney.

The cancellation has reportedly not impacted the relationship between Paul and her rumored winner, Doug Mason. They allegedly broke up several months before this happened. Reality Steve, who frequently spoils the ending of The Bachelor franchise shows, shared what went down between Paul and Mason.

“Since filming ended, Taylor and Doug have broken up,” Reality Steve said (via Cosmopolitan). “And yes, it’s because of Dakota.”

He alleged that Paul was still hung up on Mortensen, leading her to end the relationship with Mason.

“Doug flew to Utah about a month after the engagement (in January I’m told), and Taylor ended it. The reasons behind it? I guess we’ll find out when it airs, but if Taylor says it’s anything other than Dakota, she’s not being honest with herself or the audience,” he said. “So any TikToks or teases she does on social media is just to promote her season. She is not with Doug anymore. Nor is she with Dakota. She just can’t seem to move on from him.”

Taylor Frankie Paul’s season is one of the latest in the ‘Bachelor’ franchise to end poorly

Paul and Mason are far from the first Bachelor Nation couple to part ways. In total, there have been 50 combined seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Of all the couples to get engaged at the end of the show, fewer than 10 are still together.

Trista and Ryan Sutter, who starred on the franchise’s first season, have been happily married for 23 years. Other winning couples include Sean and Catherine Lowe; Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried; JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers; Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar; Dotun Olubeko and Charity Lawson; Kelsey Anderson and Joey Graziadei.

Jason and Molly Mesnick and Lauren and Arie Luyendyk didn’t initially get engaged at the end of their seasons. After breaking things off with their first choices, however, both Mesnick and Luyendyk settled into lasting partnerships with their now-wives.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ has slightly more success

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are, of course, not the only Bachelor Nation shows. The Bachelor in Paradise, in which former contestants try to find love on the beach, has a slightly higher success rate. The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are also still together.
