Taylor Swift Is Under Fire for 3 Controversial TikToks
Taylor Swift is relatively litigious about her music, which is why three recent TikToks have generated backlash against her. The White House recently used music from her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, in posts on TikTok. While some artists have taken steps to ensure the current administration cannot use their music, Swift has remained quiet on the matter. A number of her fans have found this disappointing.
Taylor Swift has not commented on the White House’s use of her songs in TikToks
In the past several weeks, the White House and Team Trump, the official account for Donald Trump’s administration, used Swift’s songs in TikTok posts. In the first video, “The Fate of Ophelia” plays over a slideshow of images. At the end of the clip, the caption reads “the fate of America” over a picture of Trump.
In another video set to “Father Figure,” the account plays on the line “this empire belongs to me” with the caption “this empire belongs to President Donald J Trump.” A third video of Melania Trump accepting the Patriot of the Year award is set to the song “Opalite.”
Many people believe that Taylor Swift should have addressed the TikToks
A number of artists have made statements demanding that the Trump administration stop using their songs. Others have even tried to sue. In the past, Swift has stopped people and organizations from using her music without her permission. Still, she has remained silent on these videos. Many of her fans have expressed their disappointment in her lack of response.
“It would be so easy for her to remove the sound on socials or just say SOMETHING,” wrote one Reddit user. “Her doing nothing is so disappointing as a fan.”
“Staying silent is absolutely an opinion right now,” added another person.
While some people defended Swift, saying that it wasn’t her responsibility to speak about politics, others felt that this wasn’t a good excuse.
“It’s funny to me how some of her stans insist she remains quiet because it’s not safe for her to speak up, despite the fact that many other big pop stars have been vocal about political issues even though they also have unhinged stans and haters, and political figures who have publicly attacked them for it,” wrote one person.
Donald Trump has insulted the singer in the past
Though accounts associated with the Trump administration have used Swift’s music, Trump himself is not a fan of the “Opalite” singer. After she endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, he posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social.
In a recent post in support of Sydney Sweeney, Trump dragged Swift’s name into things.
“Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift,” he wrote. “Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.”
It seems that whoever is running these accounts is more of a fan.
