This season, Taylor Swift has been trying to keep a lower profile at Travis Kelce’s NFL games. She has had some negative experiences at games and hopes to avoid them this season. There’s reportedly one team that gave Swift a particularly hard time. A friend of the Kelce family said that coming up against Bills fans shocked Swift.

Taylor Swift doesn’t like watching Travis Kelce play against the Bills

In 2024, Swift attended the Chiefs’ game against the Buffalo Bills. She reportedly did not expect the negative reaction she got from fans.

“I have heard from people very close that it was not a great experience in Buffalo. It was not,” Kelce’s friend Adam Lefkoe said on the Up & Adams podcast. “For all parties involved. And I’m talking about the most famous of all the parties. I think that it kind of shocked the Kelce family and everyone related to the Kelce family, the reception they got.”

Lefkoe noted that the Kelce cohort wouldn’t look forward to another game against the Bills.

“I think they were kind of going in being like, ‘This is going to be an amazing game with good energy,’” he said. “And they got there and they experienced Bills Mafia in full form, in its complete ruthlessness. And I think they left and went, ‘I don’t know if I want to experience that again.'”

The team lost to the Bills this year

This year, the Chiefs played the Bills on Nov. 2. Kelce’s team lost 28-21.

“We’ve got to learn from it,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes said in a post game press conference (per Yahoo!). “But it’s kind of like, we’ve got to do it now. There’s no easy game coming up, and there’s no more chances that we can really take losses. You’ve got to learn from it fast.”

Taylor Swift worries about backlash when Travis Kelce retires

Swift has been booed at games and faced general disdain from some NFL fans. She reportedly worries that this will intensify when Kelce retires. He is likely reaching the end of his time with the NFL, but he hasn’t made any definitive announcements yet.

“Travis claims it was just rival fans being jerks, but you can’t blame her for feeling a bit picked on,” a source told RadarOnline. “It’s only natural for her to worry about being the scapegoat if he hangs up his cleats.”

At the time, the source claimed that Swift worried about the way that Kelce’s retirement might impact their relationship.

“Travis is totally adamant that Taylor would never pressure him into anything, insisting she’ll support whatever he decides — but let’s be real, it’s no secret she’s itching to settle down,” the source said. “Imagine if he retires; they could finally have more time together! … But on the flip-side, there is the danger they would then be spending too much time together and they both know this can spell the death of a relationship.”

As the couple is now engaged, this is likely less of a concern for Swift. Right now, her focus is reportedly on making sure Kelce ends his football career on a high note.
