On Aug. 26, Swift and Kelce shared news of their engagement. In the joint post on Instagram, the couple shared a series of images of themselves with a lush backdrop of flowers. The romantic photo shoot reportedly took place in Kelce’s Kansas backyard.

In the photos, Kelce poses on one knee, the couple embraces, Swift shows off her massive engagement ring, and they cuddle in a floral-wrought gazebo. The post, captioned “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” garnered over 30,000,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement photos hint at a positive future for the couple

The photos clearly show a couple in love, but body language expert Joanne Pearson of Private Investigations UK says they reveal more than that.

“What we’re seeing in this moment is intimacy and security,” she said. “Travis is kneeling, which symbolically places him in a position of vulnerability and devotion. His upward gaze is fixed entirely on Taylor, showing admiration, respect, and a deep emotional focus on her.”

Pearson said Swift is also showing “care as well as love” in the images.

“She’s leaning fully into him, both physically and emotionally, which demonstrates trust and prioritisation of the relationship above all else in that moment.”

To Pearson, the photos show three hallmarks of a successful relationship: grounding posture, nurturing touch, and mutual immersion.

“This isn’t a staged or distant engagement announcement,” she explained. “Their body language shows vulnerability, equality, and genuine emotion. Those are the markers of a partnership that isn’t just built on love, but on trust and emotional reciprocity. In body language terms, that’s the recipe for a marriage with real longevity.”

When did they start dating?

Swift and Kelce’s engagement comes roughly two years after they went public with their relationship. While fans first saw proof of their romance when the Chiefs played the Bears in Sept. 2023, Swift said they began dating long before this.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told Time. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
