Barbara Evans, the mother of former Teen Mom 2 star, Jenelle Evans, is officially recovering at home in North Carolina after suffering a scary medical episode last week. According to several reports, Barbara, 72, suffered a stroke, but has been released from the hospital and is expected to recover. Still, the scary episode has fans reeling and leaves many questions about Jace Evans’ custody situation. Jenelle Evans is reportedly back in North Carolina at the moment.

‘Teen Mom 2’ favorite, Barbara Evans, suffers a stroke

Barbara Evans is at home recovering after a scary medical emergency last week. Several outlets have reported that the 72-year-old grandmother was hospitalized sometime last week after suffering a stroke. It is unclear where the medical event occurred or who assisted Evans in obtaining medical attention, but it appears that everything will be fine, although she has a bit of a road to recovery.

According to the Ashley Reality Roundup Group, Barbara returned home recently. While she’ll need physical therapy and will be seeing specialists, the damage is not expected to be permanent. A full recovery is anticipated. According to the outlet, Jenelle’s sister, Ashleigh Wilson, along with Jace Evans, have been close by as Barbara recovers. Ashleigh resides in the same state.

The medical episode causes concern for Jace Evans

The scary medical experience has left Teen Mom 2 fans with some serious concerns about Barbara Evans and her 16-year-old grandson, who has been in her care. While neither Jace nor Barbara Evans has confirmed it, insiders claim Jace, 16, returned to North Carolina to live with his grandmother in August. The move came after the teen leaked text messages between him and his mother. Things have remained relatively quiet since then. Still, Jenelle has made several snarky comments since he left her care and returned to his grandmother. With Barbara’s new medical concerns, everyone is wondering if Jace will be able to remain in her home. That is likely a decision for CPS. He likely will stay put, as it sounds like Barbara is expected to have no lasting effects from the event. According to reports, the custody situation remains unchanged at the moment.

Jace, who spent most of his life living with his grandmother, moved in with his mother and then-stepfather in mid-2023 when Barbara agreed to sign over custody. Things took an immediate turn, with several runaway reports and a short stint in foster care by the year’s end. Jace only returned to Jenelle’s home in February 2024. She filed for legal separation from David Eason that same month. By May, she had moved the entire family to Las Vegas. That decision is rumored to have not sat right with Jace, whose friends, support system, and doctors remained in the Tar Heel State.

Janelle Evans is rumored to be spending time in North Carolina

While Barbara gets back on her feet, the Evans family is reportedly rallying around her. According to TMZ, Jenelle Evans flew home to North Carolina after the incident, though she mentioned nothing on social media. Jenelle, known for oversharing, has continued as usual on Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) despite the family emergency.
