‘Teen Mom’ Fans Can’t Figure Out Why Jenelle Evans and May Oyola Are Friends Now
Jenelle Evans was spending time in New York City this week. She hit the interview circuit, hosted a divorce party despite not being legally divorced, and shared plenty of photos of herself via social media. She was clearly flying solo, which led fans to question who was back in Las Vegas watching her children. The answer came quickly. Nathan Griffith’s estranged wife, May Oyola, posted photos with Ensley Eason and Kaiser Griffith, suggesting she was the overnight childcare while Jenelle spent time in New York. While May’s upload answered one question, it left Teen Mom fans with another: when did May and Jenelle become friendly?
May Oyola and Jenelle Evans appear to be friendly now
May Oyola never appeared on Teen Mom, but she’s certainly wrapped up in plenty of the show’s drama. Married to Nathan Griffith since 2022, May has been a peripheral character in Jenelle Evans’ life. That is, until recently. In the last four weeks, Jenelle and May have cozied up to each other as Nathan Griffith sits in a jail cell. May is even taking pictures with Kaiser, her stepson, and his half-sister, Ensley. Followers find the whole thing strange. We agree.
So, when did Nathan Griffith’s past love and estranged wife become friendly? They struck up an unlikely alliance after Nathan was arrested on yet another domestic violence charge. They reportedly showed up at Anastasia Biddle’s home together to retrieve Nathan’s belongings. Jenelle claimed she was “assisting” May, who is not a native English speaker.
Their relationship was once pretty negative
While Jenelle Evans and May Oyola appear to have teamed up against Nathan Griffith’s latest victim and found a friendship because of it, things weren’t always sunny between the two. Despite Nathan having limited interaction with the son he shares with Jenelle, May has felt the need to comment on her parenting. She has even done so publicly, a move that generally gets people placed on Jenelle Evans’ bad side.
According to The Ashley Reality Roundup Group, May called out Jenelle on social media back in October 2024. The slam came after she sent Kaiser Griffith to live with his paternal grandmother, then quickly recalled him. May called Jenelle a “mental mess’ and a “poor little thing” in the long-expired Instagram stories. Jenelle apparently had been keeping an eye on May’s Instagram account because she shot back quickly.
At the time of the standoff, May and Nathan had apparently briefly patched things up. He moved on to Anastasia Biddle, a 21-year-old whom he later strangled just weeks later. Despite that, May insists she’s standing by her husband for “better or worse.”
It is impossible to say whether May Oyola and Jenelle Evans have struck up a legitimately unlikely friendship or if things will end in a dramatic blowup. Regardless, followers are sounding off, and few people expect Jenelle and May to remain civil for long. They have a year of relative quiet, though. Nathan Griffith will remain locked up for at least that long.
