Former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward had a message before the 2025 NFL Draft, when he warned if teams didn’t select him, “that’s your fault,” and he would “remember that.” As expected, he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick.

After his first six games, which resulted in a 1-5 and the firing of head coach Brian Callahan, Ward put the entire league on notice with another bold remark.

“It’s frustrating for me because I’m not playing how I want to play,” Ward told The Athletic. “I can’t play no damn worse. I can, but s***, I ain’t trying to. The only way is up … So, once I play how I want to play, I think the league will be f*****.”

That comment had fans wanting to know more about Ward, including who his girlfriend is. Here’s more on Ward’s relationship with Nailah Landon.

Ward and Landon are college sweethearts, but didn’t always go to the same school

Ward transferred a couple of times during his college career. Before Miami, he played his college ball for Washington State and the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. He met Landon while attending the latter.

While it’s unclear exactly when the two started dating, they have been commenting on each other’s social media posts since 2022. And after Ward was nominated for the Heisman Trophy, Landon let everyone know how she felt about him when she commented “Pookie” and two white heart emojis on a video he reposted of his face on a billboard in New York City.

Landon attended Barry University before transferring to Incarnate World. There, she majored in communications and media studies. She graduated in 2023.

She’s an athlete as well

She was born on March 5, 2001, in Chicago to parents Noni Weathers and Norvice. She has four siblings.

Like Ward, Landon is an athlete as well. She has played volleyball, basketball, and track and field, earning Metro Suburban All-Conference honors in high school. During one season on the volleyball team at Barry, she played in 44 sets, recorded 31 kills, and averaged 0.70 kills per set. She continued her collegiate athletic career at Incarnate Word.

After graduation, Landon began working as a marketing coordinator for Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins.

Landon isn’t afraid to make bold predictions either

Landon isn’t afraid to make bold predictions and showed plenty of support for her man before he was drafted.

Prior to draft night, Ward told The Associated Press, “You’re either going to draft me or you’re not. If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”

He also shared a carousel of Instagram photos that included a selfie taken by Landon of the couple posing in a car window.

“FIRST,” Landon commented on the post, referencing the spot she and Ward were confident he would be drafted at.
