The first-ever golden bachelor won’t be a bachelor for much longer; he just took to Instagram to share some exciting news. Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor ended with an engagement, and he even made it down the aisle, but forever wasn’t in the cards. Still, the Indiana native did not lose hope that love was out there for him. In April, almost exactly one year after announcing his split from Theresa Nist, Turner revealed that he was in a serious relationship with Lana Sutton.
Turner revealed that they had met on social media. While Turner went public with the romance in April, it appears he and Sutton met months earlier. He mentioned that he was seeing someone during an interview in December 2024, though he didn’t give away any details. We assume that someone was Sutton. After nearly a year together, Turner is certain that he has found his perfect match.

Turner might have announced his new relationship just a few months ago, but as the saying goes, when you know, you know. The septuagenarian is feeling confident that this relationship is his forever relationship. On October 3, Gerry Turner took to Instagram to announce his engagement. The announcement was accompanied by a series of photos of Turner with his new fiancée. The couple showed off the ring while hanging out on the beach.
The contestants from his season of The Golden Bachelor dropped in quickly to offer their warm wishes. Nancy Hulkower, Kathy Swarts, and Faith Martin all congratulated the happy couple. The official Bachelor Nation Instagram account dropped in to wish the couple well, too. Teresa Nist, the ex-wife of the Golden Bachelor alum, did not appear in the comments.
Turner and his soon-to-be bride have not shared details about their wedding plans. We assume ABC won’t be on hand to film this one.

Turner didn’t waste much time moving on to a new partner after his public split from Theresa Nist. Nist and Turner wed during a televised special in January 2024. Bachelor Nation turned out to celebrate the happy couple. Despite the massive wedding, their relationship, complete with disagreements on where to live, didn’t last long. They announced their plan to separate in April 2024.
While the duo called it a day in April, they didn’t finalize their divorce until August 2024. Nist hasn’t been dating recently, and even admitted she was passed over for Bachelor in Paradise because of her indecisiveness regarding the show and dating, at least on national TV, again. While Nist has alluded to some darker causes for her split from Turner, the former flames seem to be keeping things mostly cordial.
