Ryan Murphy has plans to feature Anthony in American Love Story, but he didn’t tell Carole Radziwill about it. The journalist-turned-reality TV star sat down for an interview on the We Met at Acme podcast and opened up about how she learned of the casting. It’s super coincidental.
Carole Radziwill told host Lindsey Metselaar that she received a call from a friend about American Love Story. They told Radziwill that they had auditioned to play the part of her late husband, Anthony. Radziwill revealed that, although the man in question had become a friend, she had dated him several times in 2020. She did not mention whether her friend landed the role, but did note that it was the first she had heard about the project. We have to wonder, if Radziwill hadn’t once dated an actor who auditioned for the role, would she have learned of the project with the rest of the public? It seems that way.

Carole Radziwill’s connection to the Kennedy family stems from her marriage to Anthony Radziwill, the son of Prince Stanisław Albrecht Radziwiłł and Lee Radziwill, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s younger sister. Anthony was deeply bonded to his first cousin, John F. Kennedy Jr. Anthony served as JFK Jr.’s best man, and JFK Jr. served as his.
Carole and Anthony married in 1994 after meeting through their shared career path in the early 1990s. Because of Anthony’s connection to John F. Kennedy Jr., she spent a great deal of time with him and his wife, Caroyln Bessette-Kennedy. John, his wife, and her sister, Lauren Bessette, died in a plane crash in 1999. Their deaths came just weeks before Anthony Radziwill died after a long battle with cancer. Anthony and Carole had been married almost five years at the time of his death.
While Radziwill’s connection to the Kennedy family is highly publicized, she is protective of the connection. She even worked a clause into her Bravo contract to prevent the exploitation of her connection to the family. The “Kennedy clause” prevented the network from using her ties to the family as promotional material and prohibited the network from referring to her as a “Kennedy Cousin.” The use of personal images was also banned.
