The Newest Duggar-in-Law Admits She Only Answered Jason Duggar Because of His Famous Family
Maddie Duggar appears to be trying her hand at an influencer career path. Unfortunately for her, family critics are just as unimpressed by her as they are by the rest of the Duggars and Duggars-in-law. A recent social media upload has critics talking. Maddie and Jason have now told multiple versions of their “meet-cute” story. Maddie’s most recent explanation makes her look like a bit of a fan girl.
Maddie says she only responded to Jason Duggar because she had seen him on TV
Maddie Duggar was unknown to Duggar family followers until 2024, when she first appeared on Jason Duggar’s Instagram account. Since then, the couple has made it official and gotten married. Now, Maddie seems to be trying to launch a social media career by talking about her romance. While doing so, she appears to be exposing herself as a Duggar family fan, despite her insistence that she was not a “fangirl” before meeting Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 12th child.
In an Instagram upload, Maddie expanded on how she and Jace met, insisting the “butterfly effect” was real. She claims that she only interacted with Jace’s Instagram account, which led to him contacting her because she recognized him from TV. Maddie tried to soften the idea that she was a fan by suggesting she had only seen the show because “family friends” had turned on the series during a joint vacation years earlier. While she certainly tried to create some distance and breeziness to her familiarity, critics are reading between the lines. Despite her protests, they think she was a fangirl.
She’s not the only ‘superfan’ to marry into the family
While Maddie’s expanded story makes her look more like a fangirl than ever before, she might be in good company. She’s not the first person outside of the Duggar social circle to marry into the family, and she’s not the first one to admit to seeing the show before becoming romantically linked to the famous family.
In 2012, Ben Seewald and Jessa Seewald started their courtship. The couple married in 2014 and are currently awaiting the arrival of their sixth child. The romance all began because Ben talked his family into visiting the Duggar family’s church, hours from their home base. While he hasn’t outwardly admitted it, family critics suspect he was a Jessa superfan long before marriage.

There are some questions about Derick Dillard’s motivations with the Duggar family, too. As Derick and his wife, Jill Dillard, have consistently told it, Derick sought out Jim Bob Duggar as a prayer partner and organically became interested in Jill. Family critics suspected he was a fan who went through Jim Bob to marry into the family.
Critics have also called into question how aware Jeremy Vuolo was of the Duggar family’s fame when Ben and Jessa introduced him to Jinger Vuolo. There is less suspicion around the women who married Duggar boys. Most of them, with the exception of Maddie, were part of the family’s larger social circle.
