The Prison Rules Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Has Allegedly Broken at Fort Dix So Far
In the days and weeks leading up to his trial, you didn’t hear much about Diddy’s prison behavior. From the sounds of it, he was more or less unproblematic while he spent a year inside the walls of Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Since his conviction, Diddy has been moved to FCI Fort Dix, and things have changed quickly. Despite only arriving at the federal lockup a few weeks ago, Diddy has already had a couple of dustups. So far, he’s broken at least two rules and has been far from a model inmate. So, what exactly happened?
Diddy was reportedly caught drinking prison wine at Fort Dix
One of Diddy’s main reasons for requesting a transfer to FCI Fort Dix was so that he could take part in their rehabilitation program. The former music mogul has laid much of the blame for his behavior on his drug and alcohol use. He also seemed to be priding himself on his sobriety, and his legal team referenced his dedication to sobriety several times during his sentencing.
According to reports, he didn’t last long without a slip. Last week, reports surfaced that prison officials were considering moving Diddy ot a different cell block after he was caught enjoying some contraband. Apparently, he was caught drinking “toilet wine” with other inmates. FCI Fort Dix does not comment on current inmates or their behavior. Diddy’s representative is speaking, however. On November 9, a rep for the rap superstar told People that Diddy has been following prison rules. They said that any report about him drinking while serving his prison term is false.
Reports that the rapper had issues with his phone calls surfaced recently
The toilet wine incident isn’t the only report of trouble for Diddy inside the walls of FCI Fort Dix. The record producer apparently encountered trouble while making phone calls as well. According to CBS News, Diddy placed an unauthorized three-person call on November 3, shortly after arriving at Fort Dix. The phone call, allegedly involving members of his legal team, is considered a breach of prison security.
According to the outlet, inmates may only speak to one person at a time and can only call individuals who are on their approved call list. The addition of a third individual on the call is considered a security breach and against the rules that Diddy was made aware of upon his arrival at FCI Fort Dix. According to CBS News, Diddy could face consequences for his actions. Punishment could include loss of phone privileges and restricted access to the prison’s commissary for a period of time. It is unclear what, if any, punishment was handed down for he infraction.
Diddy has only been at FCI Fort Dix since October 30. He will serve out the remainder of his 50-month sentence at the low-security facility, provided he manages to abide by its rules. Before moving to Fort Dix, Diddy was housed in MDC in Brooklyn, the only federal lockup in New York City. Conditions inside the facility have been heavily criticised, and it is considered among the most dangerous federal prisons in the system. The move to Fort Dix was largely seen as an upgrade.
