The Search for Nancy Guthrie Day 16: A New Letter, DNA Evidence, and Continued Hope
Sixteen days after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills, the police finally appear to be making progress. At the very least, there has been significant activity surrounding the case in recent days. While police seem to have collected DNA evidence, an alleged insider continues to ask for money in return for information about the octogenarian. Savannah Gunthrie is still holding out hope. Here is everything that has happened in the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance over the last few days.
More notes about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance have been recieved
There have been several major developments in the case of Nancy Guthrie, including an alleged insider who claims to have information about the disappearance. TMZ has been at the center of the case since news of the octogenerians disappearnce broke on February 1, and it seems people with knowledge of the abduction have been taking note. TMZ, along with several news stations, received a ransom note shortly after their abduction.
Since then, TMZ has received notes from an anonymous insider who claims they have information about the suspect and the abduction. They are requesting Bitcoin in return for the information. In their most recent correspondence, they are asking for the same amount the FBI is offering as a reward. According to TMZ, the author doesn’t trust the authorities and wishes to remain anonymous, but would like to collect the $100,000 reward. So far, their demands have not been met.
The police appear to be making progress without that information
While an insider claims to have information about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, the authorities are still busy hunting down other leads. In a massive development, the investigation has yielded what police believe might be DNA evidence that could connect a suspect to the abduction.
Over the weekend, police located a pair of gloves that they believe match the gloves the person seen at Nancy Guthrie’s door just before her abduction was wearing. The discovery, made two miles from Guthrie’s home, contains the suspect’s DNA. It could prove pivotal in finding them. Along with the gloves, investigators have a solid description and a video of the intruder. Still, no one has identified the man seen in the video, at least that we know of.
Savannah Guthrie says the family still has hope
While there has been some movement in the case, the police don’t seem particularly optimistic about finding Nancy Guthrie anytime soon. Pima County Sherrif, Chris Nanos, made a sobering remark during a recent press conference. The agency spokesman said it could take “weeks, months, or even years” to resolve Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
While Nanos wants everyone to temper their expectations, Savannah Guthrie is still holding out hope that they’ll have an answer about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts sooner rather than later. The famed Guthrie issued yet another video plea for the safe return of her mother, saying the family still has hope. According to WRAL, Guthrie used the video to urge anyone with information to step forward, noting that it’s never too late to do the right thing. Nothing appears to have come from that video just yet.
This is a developing story…
