The Golden Bachelor ended in more of a whimper than a bang. Mel Owens was not forced to choose between two ladies, and while he seems happy enough, fans were largely disappointed by the lack of a proposal and the absence of drama. Mel might have been boring, but his season had a few ladies who did bring a good bit of sparkle to the table. Fans are hoping one of them could potentially pull the franchise out of the garbage and turn things around. There are two ladies from Owens’ season of The Golden Bachelor that fans think could lead the next The Golden Bachelorette season to great success. There are two contestants they don’t want to see, too.

Cindy Cullers won fans after she put herself first

Cindy Cullers made a really tough call during the season finale of The Golden Bachelor. Recognizing that she and Mel Owens weren’t even reading the same book, let alone on the same page, she opted out of the competition before reaching the fantasy suites. Cullers argued that her goal was to find a forever partner and really commit to making a life together in their golden years. She sensed that Owens was not there and would likely not arrive anytime soon. She followed her instincts and decided to see her way out of the competition so she could find a man who was on the same page as her.

The Golden Bachelor wasn’t the right place for her to find her perfect match. There is hope that The Golden Bachelorette might be the perfect setting for her to have her pick, though. Fams appreciated Cullers’ integrity and her commitment to staying true to her wants and needs. For those reasons, she could be a good fit as the next lead.

‘The Golden Bachelor’ viewers want to see Debbie Siebers as the next golden bachelorette

Mel Owens opted to send Debbie Siebers home following the hometown dates. It was a move that made him even more unpopular with fans. Many felt that Owens had rejected Siebers after she was at her most vulnerable. Her elimination came after she revealed her previous partner had died by suicide after she broke up with him. Mel seemed supportive at the time, but the elimination immediately after felt like a clear rejection, and frankly, kind of cold.

Siebers revealed that the experience was traumatizing and altered how she conducted her life moving forward. While she seemd buummed that Owens opted out of dating her following the admission, fans are pretty sure she is better off without him. In fact, they’d love to see her seek love as the next golden bachelorette. Siebers’ bright personality, openness, and tough background could make for a really interesting season. It will only work if the network can find the right men for her, though.

There are a few people they’d prefer not to see

While Cullers and Siebers are front-runners for the next golden bachelorette according to fans, there are a couple of contestants that fans could live without seeing ever again. Nicolle Briscoe, who made it all the way to week 5, was the villain of the season. Her unapologetic desire to leverage her 15 minutes of fame isn’t being seen as honest by most fans. She is largely considered greedy and annoying. Her personality was somewhat grating, and she was outright nasty on several occasions during her time on The Golden Bachelor. For those reasons, fans largely agree she would not make a good Golden Bachelorette, despite her aspirations.

Amy Kaplan wasn’t nearly as unlikeable as Nicolle Briscoe, but she remains one of the less discussed contestants. While Kaplan’s career aspirations might make a lead role tempting, fans aren’t convinced she has what it takes. The New Jersey resident considers herself a “momager.” While she might be vying to become the next Kris Jenner, she doesn’t seem to possess the necessary personality or drive to make it happen. Kaplan told the New York Post that she has plenty of suitors sliding into her DMs since her dismissal. Still, Bachelor Nation fans are not confident she could carry a season of her own.
