‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 is Headed to France
It’s official: The White Lotus fans will travel to France for the show’s fourth season. Since season 3 wrapped in April, fans have been tossing out their theories about the show’s next potential locale. While France had been previously mentioned, the official announcement still comes as something of a surprise. Here is everything we know about the upcoming fourth season of the beloved HBO Max original. The details remain sparse, but speculation is running rampant.
Season 4 of ‘The White Lotus’ will be set in France
The White Lotus will be filming its next season in France. According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO and HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys announced the location during a programming presentation earlier this week. The team behind the series took a pretty long hiatus after season 3 ended. Showrunner Mike White worked on a different project. Now that that is completed, work is back underway for The White Lotus.

While the team behind the show is getting back to it, fans are likely in for a pretty long wait for another season. Casting hasn’t even been completed yet, and, according to Bloys, writing is just getting underway. Despite movement on the project, it might take a while for fans to see a finished product. That’s not stopping everyone from viewers to industry experts from offering their theories about what is to come.
Filming locations and schedules have not yet been announced
While Bloys felt comfortable sharing that the season will be set in France, he opted not to share too much additional information. In fact, Bloys emphasized that the team was still in the early stages of planning as a way to temper expectations. Though an official location was not announced, it seems like the team behind the show has its sights set on a few high-end options, at least that’s what rumors suggest.
Last month, Variety reported that the production team for The White Lotus was eyeing ultra-luxury hotels in both Paris and the French Riviera. Le Lutetia or the Ritz Paris, both in Paris, have been mentioned as potential locations. Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat in the French Riviera has been named as well. Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat closes during the cold months, reopening each March, which could work well for filming. Still, a filming schedule has not yet been announced.
There are plenty of other options available, too. It’s possible that White and the team will seek out a more unique property to film the next installment when the time comes. Previous reports suggested the iconic showrunner was sick of the crashing waves. Rumors suggested, the showrunner was considering something less beachy for season 4. Season 1 was set in Hawaii, while season 2 took viewers to Italy. The cast of Season 3 traveled to Thailand for a truly complex storyline. Only time will tell how season 4 plays out, though.
