There is 1 Place You Won’t Find Jennifer Lopez Looking for Love
Jennifer Lopez is not against the idea of finding love again. While the famed actor and singer has had a bit of a rough ride romantically, with her engagement to Alex Rodriguez and her marriage to Ben Affleck imploding rather publicly, she’s not completely turned off to the notion of dating. When she does find someone to romance her again, she will not have met him on a dating app. Lopez recently revealed that she’s completely against finding her next leading man on an app, even if it is an app geared toward people just like her.
Jennifer Lopez doesn’t want to find love on a dating app
Jennifer Lopez’s life has been pretty chaotic over the years. Her love life, in particular, has been messy, complicated, and very public. As she grows wiser, she’s looking for something a little different. Lopez revealed that in the future, she hopes ot keep her love life much quieter. She’s not sure how she’s going to manage that. Still, one thing is for certain, though. She won’t be using a discreet dating app intended for celebrities to find that next quiet love.
Last month, Jennifer Lopez appeared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show and opened up about her dating life. She told Stern that there was no way she’d sign up for Raya, noting that she’s “old-fashioned” and doesn’t really want to meet someone through a photo on her cell phone. She’s hoping for something much more organic.
Raya is an exclusive dating app that was launched in 2015. The app, unlike Tinder, vets each applicant, and just 10% are accepted. It was originally envisioned as a dating and social space for creatives, but quickly became the preferred dating app for celebrities from diverse backgrounds.
These celebrities have used Raya with varying success
Jennifer Lopez apparently isn’t the only celebrity who is a little old-fashioned and has opted out of using Raya. While Lopez is resistant to the concept of a dating app, many celebrities have tried out the super selective Raya and decided against finding love online. Drew Barrymore chronicled her rather difficult experience with Raya back in 2020. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Barrymore said she was stood up by someone she connected with on the app. She didn’t name any names, but she did reveal he owned a restaurant.
Keke Palmer and Lil Nas X have both admitted to using the app. Palmer said she used it briefly before deciding she would prefer an organic meeting. Lil Nas X said the app “fell off” for him. Olivia Rodrigo called the experience of online dating “so vomit.” Lopez’s very own ex-husband, Ben Affleck, has been rumored ot use the app, but refuses to openly admit it.
Jennifer Lopez might be being a bit close-minded by avoiding the use of dating apps entirely. While there are a few celebrities who have not had a good time on Raya, there are also plenty of success stories. Nick Kroll met his wife on the app, and Simone Biles met her husband on Raya. Biles told the Wall Street Journal that she spotted Owens’ photo on the app and thought he was cute; she messaged him first. Owens claimed he had never heard of Biles before; absolutely no one believes that, though. Kiernan Shipka and Rebel Wilson have admitted to varying degrees of luck on the app, too.
