These Original ‘RHONY’ Stars Are Headed to a New Network
Did you think the original cast of The Real Housewives of New York City would slink back into the shadows forever? If you did, you were wrong. Several key cast members from the early seasons of the beloved show are headed to a brand-new network with a new show. Fans who missed some of their antics are thrilled.
The original cast of ‘The Real Housewives of New York’ find a new home
Several key castmembers from the glory days of The Real Housewives of New York City will have an on-camera reunion soon enough, but they won’t be led and controlled by Andy Cohen and Bravo any longer. On January 30, Parade reported that E! would launch a series centered on original RHONY cast members Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Ramona Singer.
Two key figures from the show’s early seasons are not slated to return to the reimagined series. Alex McCord has not been mentioned in connection with the new show, nor has Bethenny Frankel. Frankel has been outspoken about her desire to stay away from reality TV since her final Bravo departure after season 11 of The Real Housewives of New York City. McCord moved to Australia following her RHONY stint and returned to school. She’s stayed mostly private since.
Further details on the premise are not available. Still, fans can expect some of the same drama and hijinks they saw during the cast’s first brush with reality TV fame. The series is expected to be released later in 2026. A title has not been reported.
E! and Bravo are competitors now
The news of a brand-new series featuring the former housewives comes as E! and Bravo find themselves competing for the very first time. Previously, both E! and Bravo were owned by NBCUniversal. E! was acquired by Versant along with several other channels on January 2, 2026. The company, founded in 2024, also acquired Oxygen, Syfy, The Golf Channel, and USA Network as part of the deal.
The decision to bring back to the original cast of The Real Housewives of New York City, at least in part, suggests Versant is interested in capitalizing on the past success of the cast and fans’ almost universal rejection of Bravo’s reboot with new stars. It will be interested in seeing what other shows they consider pulling to their reimagined networks.
