Tiger Woods was recently arrested on DUI charges. The professional golfer has been in the public eye for years and has sporadically faced negative coverage since his 2009 cheating scandal. Woods reportedly hates the type of attention that is on him after his recent DUI arrest.

On March 27, Woods was arrested after crashing his car. He attempted to pass a truck as it turned into a driveway, but clipped the trailer. This caused his vehicle to flip onto its side. Police on the scene arrested him because they thought he seemed impaired. He failed a field sobriety test and reportedly had glassy, bloodshot eyes with large pupils. They later found hydrocodone in his pocket.

Sources who know Woods say he is a private person who hates having negative attention on him.

“He is not a social butterfly and prefers to hang around his home with his kids, or hitting balls, or playing video games,” a source told People. “He despises public scrutiny.”

This could be a reason that Woods refuses to hire a driver. He has been in multiple car accidents, including a near-fatal one in 2021.

“[He] doesn’t want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing,” the source said. “And he thinks he is fine to drive.”

Woods has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges against him. He said he was looking at his phone, which led to the accident.
