TikTok Drama of the Week: Fans Fight Over Mattie and Amara’s Rumored Breakup
It is only January, and TikTok drama is already consuming the app. While there is plenty going on right now, the state of Mattie Westrbrouck and Amara Cardova’s relationship has tempers flaring as followers argue over whether or not the duo has broken up. We’ve collected all the evidence supporting a split and all the reasons to believe they are still together.
Why do some people assume Mattie and Amara have broken up?
Mattie Westbrouck and Amara Cardova took over the FYP of many TikTok users in 2024 when they moved in together. Since then, the duo has regularly uploaded couples content. That all changed in November 2025. Around Thanksgiving, Mattie and Amara uploaded a completely typical TikTok video. That was the last time they were spotted together.
Murmurs that the pair had gone their separate ways began around Christmas, when Mattie spent an extended time with their family. The content creator further fueled rumors of a split with a Christmas haul that made no mention of Amara. Amara also made no mention of Mattie during the holiday season.
In January, Mattie appeared in several videos with fellow creator, Avery Cyrus, and reconnected with Carter Kench. They had not appeared in videos together for more than a year. The change in routine seemed to further indicate a major shakeup in Mattie and Amara’s relationship. Amara has been filming more frequently with friends, as well.
The former couple has also stopped commenting on each other’s social media uploads, though they are still following each other. A pinned video featuring the pair together has also been unpinned. If they haven’t split, the pair is certainly backpeddling on featuring their relationship on social media.
There are clues that they may not have split, though
While there is plenty of evidence to support the idea that Mattie and Amara have officially broken up, some fans are holding onto hope for one reason and one reason alone. Both Mattie and Amara are still uploading content from the apartment they share. Sure, they don’t appear to be in the space at the same time, and they certainly haven’t appeared in each other’s videos. Still, their belongings are in the apartment.
Some hopeful fans think the couple has taken a step back from public life to refocus their professional careers, realigning their romance as private. Naysayers, however, have shot down that theory, noting that they may be waiting till their lease ends to separate their homes or simply posting drafts as they navigate a split.
Neither Amara nor Mattie has commented on the drama. The silence, however, is serving as confirmation to some fans that all is not right between the couple.
