Timothée Chalamet‘s name has been in the news a lot lately. After winning a Golden Globe for Best Male Actor – Musical/Comedy for his role in Marty Supreme, Chalamet was a favorite to win the Oscar, until Michael B. Jordan won the hardware in the category at the The Actor Awards (formerly the SAG Awards).

Therefore, on Hollywood’s biggest night at the 98th Academy Awards, it was anyone’s guess who would take home the golden statue.

In the end, Jordan won for Sinners, but now it’s being predicted that Chalamet will get his revenge with a win at next year’s ceremony. Here’s more on that, and what an expert noticed about Chalamet’s reaction right after Jordan won the Oscar.

How Chalamet will get his Oscars revenge in 2027

Although he didn’t win the big award at this year’s Oscars, Chalamet’s acting career has been thriving and his next project could see him as a favorite in the Best Actor category again next year.

According to predictions from OLBG’s Oscars simulator, “Chalamet will get his revenge by winning Best Actor for his role as Paul Atreides in the highly anticipated Dune: Part Three — the finale of the trilogy. Dune: Part Three will have two more award winners, including Denis Villeneuve for Best Director and Anya Taylor-Joy for Best Supporting Actress playing Chalamet’s sister, Alia Atreides.”

Other projections for the 99th Academy Awards include Matt Damon, who is Odysseus in The Odyssey, missing out on an award but the director, Christopher Nolan, winning Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. And in the Best Actress category, Renate Reinsve is predicted to win for her performance in the 2026 drama film Fjord.

To predict these results, the simulation “took external factors such as Academy voting trends, odds, and sentiment towards certain films and actors into account to deliver the prediction model. The predicted winners in each category reflect the actor or film that won the award the greatest number of times across the 10,000 simulations of the ceremony. The simulation was heavily weighted towards Timothée Chalamet due to the specific data from the March 2026 Oscar results. In 8,200 out of 10,000 runs, the guilt over his Marty Supreme loss acted as a multiplier for his Dune performance.”

He analyzed Chalamet’s reaction after Jordan’s name was called and said that while he had to have been disappointed that he didn’t win, he was genuinely happy for Jordan.

Speaking on behalf of Covers, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Timothée Chalamet was genuinely happy for Michael. Sometimes we see microexpressions of sadness or disappointment from another nominee, but he seemed genuinely pleased at the moment it was announced. There was a brief close-up of Timothée and Kylie Jenner as Michael walked on stage, and there was definitely genuine happiness from the Marty Supreme star. He knows it’s all part of the game — win or lose. He didn’t flash any animosity, anger, or jealousy.”
