Long before she married T.I. and starred on reality TV, Tameka “Tiny” Harris was turning out smooth R&B tunes as a member of Xscape. The ’90s group is responsible for several hits, including “Just Kickin’ It,” “Understanding,” and “My Little Secret.” At the height of their success, Harris and her fellow bandmates were called “ugly” in a song by one of the most popular rappers at the top of his game.

In the 1994 track “Just Playing (Dreams)” by Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls, the rapper said, “I’ll f*** RuPaul before I f*** them ugly-ass Xscape bitches.”

During an episode of TV One’s Uncensored, Harris revealed that Biggie tried to apologize to the women after the single dropped, but they weren’t having it at first.

“It’s a terrible thing … everybody talking about it and whatever, but we didn’t really care. We would cuss people out,” Harris recalled of the group’s reaction to the song.

However, Harris said that years later, Biggie was at the same VIBE magazine afterparty in Los Angeles that she and fellow Xscape member Kandi Burruss were at and wanted to talk then. Harris decided to hear what he had to say.

“He was basically apologizing. He was sorry for what he said. He was like, ‘Y’all are beautiful,’” Harris remembered. “Anyway, we made up.”

T.I.’s wife then shared that was the last time she ever saw him alive.

Just 30 minutes later, when Biggie left the party, a car pulled up at a traffic light next to an SUV carrying the “Juicy” artist and fired shots.

He was hit four times and rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors were unable to save his life. Biggie was pronounced dead on March 9, 1997, just two months shy of his 25th birthday.
