Todd Chrisley Details Reuniting With Julie Chrisley After Their Presidential Pardons: ‘It Was Like I Was Home’
Todd and Julie Chrisley have officially settled back in at home after a presidential pardon released them from federal prison years earlier than they anticipated. The duo, who were best known for their time on Chrisley Knows Best before their conviction, traveled home from different federal prisons on the same day in May. Now, Todd Chrisley is recalling exactly what it was like to reunite with his love. He insists there was no awkwardness between them.
Todd Chrisley said hugging Julie Chrisley felt like being home
Todd Chrisley recently opened up about what it was like reconnecting with his wife after being apart for so long. The Chrisleys were not allowed to speak to each other while they were behind bars. They lived in two different federal prisons far from each other and could not connect via phone. Savannah Chrisley revealed, just a few months into their respective terms, that not a word had passed between the formerly inseparable pair.
When they go home, it’s safe to assume they were looking forward to reconnecting. Todd Chrisley discussed his reunion with Julie Chrisley during an interview on My View With Lara Trump. In a clip released by Fox News, Todd Chrisley said many people had asked him if it was awkward to reconnect with his wife, Julie Chrisley, after being apart for so long. He insisted it was the opposite; he described getting to be close to her again as feeling like he was home. Chrisley said their reunion likely wasn’t awkward because he was never far from her in his thoughts. He insisted he thought about her every day.
A brief timeline of Julie and Todd Chrisley’s legal troubles and pardon
In June 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted of conspiring to commit bank fraud, tax evasion, and wire fraud in the Northern District of Georgia. A federal judge sentenced Todd Chrisley to 12 years behind bars. Julie was ordered to spend seven years in a federal lockup.
They began serving their sentences in January 2023. Todd was remanded to the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida. It is a minimum-security federal facility. Julie served her time at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
In September 2023, a federal judge reduced both sentences. Todd’s term was cut by roughly two years for good behavior. Julie’s sentence was shortened by approximately 14 months after the courts recalculated the monetary losses from her crimes.
While the initial reduction was considered a minor victory, the duo celebrated a much bigger triumph less than two years later. In May 2025, President Trump granted them a full pardon. They were released from their respective prison camps on May 28, 2025. They each served 28 months of their sentences and immediately headed home to Nashville to reconnect.
