Tom Brady Has No Loyalty to the New England Patriots As They Head into the Super Bowl
Tom Brady spent most of his career with the New England Patriots. The team actually took a gamble with the now legendary quarterback, who was barely a consideration in the draft back in 2000. Despite all that and all the years he helped the team reach the NFL playoffs, he isn’t loyal to them. Now that Brady is no longer playing in the NFL, he doesn’t really care who wins the big game. At the very least, he has absolutely no allegiance to the team that made him a household name as they head to the Super Bowl for the first time since Brady’s departure.
Tom Brady isn’t rooting for the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl
Tom Brady spent 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, but that doesn’t mean he cares whether they win the Super Bowl now. Brady sat down for a chat on the Let’s Go! Podcast and shocked fans with his lack of enthusiasm about his former team heading to the big game.
When asked whether he was rooting for the Patriots this year, Brady refused to give a yes-or-no answer. Instead, he claimed he didn’t have a “dog in the fight” and was more interested in rooting on players he knew personally rather than a team. He went on to say he simply wanted to see good football, and wanted the best team to take hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of it all.
Does his stake in the Las Vegas Raiders influence his feelings?
While Tom Brady’s lack of enthusiasm for the New England Patriots playoff campaign might have shocked some fans, others are not the least bit surprised. While Brady’s parting with the Patriots wasn’t bitter, there didn’t seem to be a ton of emotion surrounding the decision. In short, he never seemed particularly attached to the team.
His broadcasting career might also influence his neutral take. Still, there could be a more obvious reason he is refusing to root for the Patriots. While Brady played for New England for most of his career, he is a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. While the team didn’t make it anywhere close to the playoffs this year, he could be tempering his enthusiasm in hopes of making big moves for his own team in the off-season. Only time will tell.
